Car suggestions?

Im going to buy a car soon, prob something just off a lease so a 2002 or 2003. I'll prob shell out 12-17k. What are the best cars I could get in that range? I've been looking at a few Acura TLs in that range, I just don't wanna overspend myself too much

Honestly I want a new mustang, and would get one, if it wasn;t for the fact that they are rear wheel drive and will get me killed in the winter. If you guys have one or know anyone that does and its not BAD in the winter let me know. I;ve no interest in the old mustang models, but I love the muscle car look they started going with.

no worse then anything else, ive got one and two other family members do and no major issues for us.

ive heard horror stories but i chalk that up to running the shit out of the car

For a 2002-2003, you should be able to find an Acura RSX-S in that price range, or maybe a TSX, in addition to the last-generation TL. Or a decent V6 Accord.

But that price range also puts you within spitting distance of a modest but decent NEW car, like a 180HP Mazda 3. And there are usually better finance deals on new cars, better terms, lower interest. An AWD Toyota Matrix might be a good choice too if you have to deal with a lot of winter conditions.

Yeah. Try taking your girl out and getting lost in the woods in one of those.

TSX was not intorduced until 2004. 2003 was the last year for the CL, the 2 door. The CL was a good looking car as well

if it didn't have 100k miles on it........

Right click and get the full URL from properties for those cars..

I assume you're talking about a V-8 Mustang. . .cause only a chick would own one with a 4 or a 6. That said, how many do you see cruising the boulevard up there in Minnesota in the middle of winter??

V-8 + RWD + ice/snow/slush = Guy with car payment, unaffordable insurance and no car because he wrapped it around a tree

V6s are actually really nice too. Don't need a GT but yea I see them a lot on the summer, not so much in the winter.

I was just jerking your chain with the "chicks" remark. I gather that you need a good all-around car. That said, I have an Accord (as someone suggested above) and it gets around great in the snow. . .it's like a snowmobile, just point and shoot. I also have an old Jeep CJ that I rebuilt myself (it never sees the winter roads. . .spent too much time on it to shit it all up in the winter), an Xterra (the wife-mobile) which has a locker in the rear end (goes good in the snow, woods, sand, mud, etc.), an old Chevelle with a 396 on blocks in my garage (no time for a rebuild right now. . .some day) and, in a couple of weeks I'm going to get a Tahoe or Suburban. . .too many kids. . .one of the hazards of taking your girl out in the woods and getting lost. :) :)

That said. I still stand by my original Jeep Rubicon suggestion. Comes from the factory with lockers and big-ass tires (sort of), will go anywhere, gets OK mileage and, believe me, it's great to take the top off and cruise around on nice days. If you get one, get a stick. . .definitely. . .better low range for crawling around in the woods and using the engine to help brake you when you're creeping down hills. Just beware of the hazards of getting lost in the back country with your girl. :) :) There's a very active contingent of 4-wheel enthusiast's in Minnesota. . .check'em out.

What are the chances that a used Wrangler in Minnesota has been treated well?

A 2003 Wrangler Rubicon does come in around 17K, so that's in his price range.

not much of an off roader guys, I really don't like the classic jeep look either, I wanted more of a car. haha my s/o has a brand new beamer so its not like what I have will stack up to hers

A canvas top and doors would be pretty chilly on a winter morning, too.

Audi's can sometimes be maintenance nightmares. . .hit Google and see if you can find any bad reports on that year/make/model. That said, that's a real cool car. Looks good and the AWD should serve you well in the Minnesota winters.

audi's are nice but expensive parts, if your looking at the v8 stang, I may also suggest the grand prix gtp, it will beat a stock camaro, quick nice cars

I wasn't looking at the GT stang, just the 6, save me 13k and V8 will KILL me in winter

Volvo S40

been checking them out lately, a lot of bang for the buck and not bad looking at all.

they still make yugo?
quality there :worried:
personally i like the chrysler 300
german (mercedes) engineered technology
built in america
