Okay I got a 1981 camaro z28 with a 350 V8 and a 4 barrell carb, and it's eating so much gas, and right now I only work part time so I don't have alot of money, anyways my question is if I change my 4 barrell carberator to a 2 barrell and much better would it be on gas?????????????

As I understand it (and I could be totally wrong) it won't make much a difference. The only time that all 4 of the barrells open on the Carbs at the same time is when you hammer on the gas (again, I think).

So switching to a 2 barrell carb would be no good if you weren't responsible enough not to bomb around and waste gas.

There may be other problems with switching to a smaller carb, but I'm not intelligent enough to understand them.

I'm sure some other folks here have the info.

It wont help unless the carb is oversized for the motor in the first place. Just tune it up and keep it maintained and the mileage should improve.

pebcak is correct on all points. if u switch to a 2 barrel carb, the "barrells" will be bigger than the primary 2 on your current 4 barrell carb, using as much gas, if not more, than now.

the best u can do is keep it at a peak state of tune up and try to keep your foot outta it.

hard thing to do, iknow!!!!!!:p
