Can I have coffee...?

Xtreme2001

I'm currently 2 weeks into my diet. I'm down 7lbs. Mostly water, but I feel and look smaller.

I'm trying to maintain approx 30g of carbs for the entire day throughout this diet.

I'm wondering if I have coffee, black or with a couple sweet n' low, will it harm the diet at all? I've read numerous threads, and some say yes, but you will feel thirsty all the time, others say no because of insulin spike and weight gain may become evident.

Any ideas??

As long as you don't take cream, nor sugar coffee is perfectly OK

there is no calorie in black coffee and no insulin spike

what's more

* caffeine acts as a stimulus to the central nervous system
* caffeine increases the mobilisation of free fatty acids into the blood

Only good things :)

not true my freind

caffeine works by blocking the uptake of a natural sedative that you rbody produces. unlike ephedrine wich ina direct central nervous system stimulant.

I've seen so much MYTHICAL and MISLEADING information on caffeine that I can probably write a 200 page essay about it. However, I can present you w/ facts:

First, OMEGA, Caffeine is a CNS stimulant, it acts by directly impacting the adrenaline and noradrenaline levels.

However, the above statment is not the lauch of point for the popular theory that caffeine raises insulin levels and disrupts ketosis. The only INDIRECT way caffeine that do this is by raising adrenaline and noradrenaline levels. Thus caffeine might cause liver glycogen to be broken down into glucose and released into the bloodstream, raising insulin. This is an indirect function, which is NOT always true.

ANSWER: If you are in Ketosis, I would not recommend taking in caffeine more than 5 times a day; however, 1-3 times a day would be fine. People read too much in between the lines w/ caffeine

My theory is that it jacks my system up in a bad way

cortisol increases, I expell tons of water, and it makes me crave carbs alot more after I have had a cup, I think it really ruins some people, and is the cause of many health problems that we rufuse to adress, cus coffee is so ingraned in our cultureI think caffein in some cases is linked with type 2 diabetes

I am sorry to say this, but that is the MOST IGNORANT post I have ever seen. IT IS NOT THE COFFEE THAT IS CAUSING THESE PROBLEMS, THERE ARE SO MANY FACTORS THAT CAN BRING ABOUT SUCH SIDE-EFFECT THAT I CAN WRITE A WHOLE BOOK ABOUT IT.

No, I have not seen any DIRECT studies that link caffeine to cortisol release. Diuretic, sure why not, that's a good thing. CRAVE CARBS? you must be the first, for most caffeine blunts hunger, it's a suppresant. What health problems? come on, give me a break, there are no DIRECT links that are studies EXTENSIVELY over significant periods of time to prove this. CAFFEINE AND TYPE 2 DIABETESE!!!! I HOPE YOU'RE JOKING...OTHERWISE, show proof.

studies are a dime by the dozen

Say it's your truth, then you can ONLY say your statement is true for YOU. NOT the people of the world.

OUR CULUTRE- more than one person, in the AMERICAN culture there are 280million people your statement includes them all, basically a blanket statement

WE- as in plural...more than one person

SOMEPEOPLE...but you also say MANY HEALTH PROBLEMS: to those people is the assumption.

LINKED w/ type 2 diabetes- you don't have diabetes I assume and I know many people that do and never touched a cup of coffee in their life.

Next time be more specific, and stop arguing w/ me you know the facts are right in front of you.

Try reading more Aristotle and Kamp, maybe pick up a book by Shakespeare like King Henry the IV or something scientific by Lock - he explains the human nature. It's not about your tolerance level, it's about knowing WHY things happen.
