Can i do cardio

wildcat

New member
I am about to start a mass bulding cycle of SUS and EQ for ten weeks where i hope to gain about 20 or so lbs.
i am a lil afraid of getting pudgy when putting on the weight, so would it be okay if i did some cardio on the days that i am not lifting?

or would that just diminish the results that the juice will give me.

btw= i will be eating about 4500 cal/ day.

I dont think it will be a problem, just dont over do it. Ride the bike at moderate intensity but dont run a marathon and shit. Eat Clean. Everyone is different though!

Yes do cardio, it is healthy for the ol ticker. 20 min for 3-4 days at a medium pace should do great. Good Luck on your cycle!

thanks mustang.

is it still okay to do it on the days that i am lifting... considering that i lift in the AM and would be running in the evening?

You should definitly do cardio. That way you'll get bigger and lose some bf at the same time, and like M-18 said, it's good for your heart. You don't have to neccesarily do running or biking either. You can do something fun like b-ball, tennis, or something like that.

yeah, that's what i am tending to find....i just wish there were more places to play racquetball around me. eh, oh well.

thanks for the help, though guys.

You can't get bigger and loose fat at the same time. It's like saying you can loose weight and gain weight at the same time. Regardless of the fact that you are doing cardio, if you are consuming more calories than you burn, which is required to gain muscle mass, then you can't loose weight/fat. It's not physiologically possible. To loose fat you must use more calories than you consume. To gain mass(muscle) you have to consume more calories than you burn. Cardio will do nothing to burn fat while "bulking". Cardio has nothing to do with fat burning...Calorie levels are ultimately what determines weight. Cardio simply burns calories making the calorie deficit greater while dieting. The greater the calorie deficit the more weoght lost. It is even debateable if it is of any benifit over intense weight training for the cardio respitory system. A bit won't interfere with gains, but it won't burn fat either...if you're bulking properly. It depends on your goals, but if you are trying to get as big as you can then cardio most likely will just be mindlessly wasting your time like a lab rat. If you control you calories properly you shouldn't have a problem with too much fat. Diet is what determines of you gain fat or not...not cardio.

Follow up qs: Must you put on fat in order to gain bulk? Is it necessary to? In other words, can you maintain a slim physique or does that counter the desired bulking?

Thanks.

The fact for most people is that while bulking up you will put on some fat. You won't become "fat" by normal persons standards, but in the world of bodybuilding it is what would be considered fat. Most people arn't genetically gifted to the point where they can bulk up and maintain a lean physique at the same time. Some people can do this because their genetics permit them to, but it is purley genetic. The regular joe will put on fat in an atempt to gain mass. With muscle will come SOME fat. It really should never get out of hand though if you understand proper diet. Some is unavoudable and desireable...for strength and joint safety, but too much is...well...too much and will be a pain when it comes time to cut. In order to gain as much mass as you can though you will have to sacrifice a lean physique for a while unless of course...you're a genetic gift.

Beezers,
if you can't lose fat and gain weight at the same time, then how did I gain 20lb and lose 2%bf on my very first cycle of omnadren. I agree with you that if you are natural it can't be done, but if your on gear it should be no problem.

Because BF% is a ratio of lean body mass(muscle/bone/connective tissue) to fat mass. As lean body mas increases the ratio changes. The ratio of LBM to fat mass is higher...more LBM in COMPARISON to fat mass. This means less of your body weight is composed of fat mass because MORE of your body weight is now muscle mass(LBM). Body fat percentage is not how much fat you have...It's the ratio of fat to LBM. So the % can change though the actual amount of fat hasn't. That's why your Body fat went down. You had more weight composed of muscle(LBM) in ratio to fat weight.
