Can anyone do this??

I am wondering if it is possable to have enough power to explode from.
a chest and nose touching the floor push up.. with legs stiff and straight
..explode off the groud to a standing position?? push with just your arms..

Can anyone do this??

A midget with flexible ankles would have the best shot. Reduce the distance and the resistance. I've never heard anyone claim it though.

Wait, no I can't.

start by getting into a standing split. lean over and get in a spread eagle pushup position and give it a shot. keep yer ass down and the more spread you are the easier it is.

im not saying its impossible with feet touching but it would be pretty damn hard to do. with enough work you could get the feet pretty close together.

this is a really good excercise for learning planches.

Plenty elite athletes can. I have seen sprinters doing pushups where they explode and keep their legs straight and they fly about 3 feet straight up in the air!

A movement like the one you are talking about would require a teriffic power to weight ratio and a fair bit of skill, but possible non-the-less.

Have you ever seen a gymnasts floor routine? You're a piece of shit in their world if you can't do a handstand with your body parallel to the floor and your arms perpendicular.

like this i guess O-|-------q

he's talking about laying flat on the ground in a push up position, and then throwing oneself into a handstand using only arm strength.

The perpendicular hand stand is static strength and the pushup to standing is explosive.

Point is (i think) that gymnasts can do both!

-getting to a handstand from a push up is called a pressup, and its damn hard but my weak ass can do it. its mostly abs.
-planches, or balancing on your hands with body parallel to ground is MUCH harder. its all static lats, shoulders, chest, and back.
-a pushup to standing would be just an explosion of power that i have never seen accomplished. try and push your body 3 feet in the air from a handstand and thats pretty much it.

well i though some one would be able to do it?? it is firing me up more sounds like it would realy tough. but somthing to shoot for.

how you could U measure your distance? accuratly to say shour for 2 foot then 3foot and so on? and ideas

A good way to get better to do this may be:

Use a ladder that is fixed in place or some steep stairs.

Get yours hands on a rung that is about a yard off the floor and then put your feet as far back as you can support. Try and explode into a standing position. If you cant do that then go up one run/ step until you can. Practice maybe 10 singles a dqy util it becomes really easy, then move down one rung and carry on until you are exploding from the bottom rung. Then move on to the floor.

i have no idea what u just wrote, but basically he means

get in pushup position.

pushup so fast and hard that while keeping in pushup position you are all of a sudden upright.

like _ to | just by doing the pushup motion so strong and fast

I do believe you have got something there.
I may just try that.

Good luck bro!

I imagine that it would be a really neat party trick, as well as being usefull.

Imagine being knocked off your feet by some sneaky bastard in a fight, only to right yourself instantly with one beastly move. I'd run!

It sounds like a great way to get kicked in the face/head not to mention somewhat fatiguing even if someone could pull it off.

I have a feeling I've seen this before in a sci-fi movie of some kind. The physics involved are going to make this very almost impossible. I said originally a midget (smaller distance on the curve) with flexible ankles (to aid in reducing friction). I'm thinking now a midget without legs and a rounded plastic piece on the bottom of his torso - like a human Weeble (i.e. Weebles Wobble but They Don't Fall Down - if anyone remembers the toys and commercials).

Well if your down you have to get up somehow, I'm not suggesting for a minute that you just ie down and then do it to impress them! :)

Seeing how powerful some of those sprinters are it would not suprise me if the could train to do it... but I doubt any of them would waste the time perfecting a move like that.

(BTW That's 2,000 fugging posts I'll thank you very much!)

Not that it matters but the best way to do it is to keep your feet and legs between the adversary and your more vulnerable areas. You can kick very powerfully if you are leveraged with your back against the ground and you can rotate to match their position so not even a hurry (if there's more than 1, you have to get up as fast as possible though). You create space with your legs - i.e. kick at their knee, get them moving backward and then slide your hips and legs back(more space) getting your feet under you as you post on your back hand and get your outside hand up to protect yourself. Anyway, this being a good way to get up - the other is about the best way to get blasted by a kick or wind up giving them your back and having them collapse down on top of you.

Reading this, I'm glad there is 4,000 plus miles of sea and earth between us MC; last time I was in a fight the other guy pissed himself and the teacher made me go to the back of the line for my milk...

Oh man - I'm totally mellow. I honestly can't remember the last time I was in a fight of any kind. That's actually one of the first things they teach you in BJJ and it's very useful to know. That along with how to get out of the mount (guy sitting on your chest where he can t-off on you at will) are pretty non-violent and useful stuff. Hell, both of those can make for smooth escapes from potentially very ugly situations.

honestly i dont think i would use this as fight trick..
but i would like to see how close i can get to this.. that is all. just sounds fun

Yes I know, but this just goes to show that it's not that far from possible, I know exactly what he's talking about, just to clear up your misunderstanding :)

I agree, I think that as a gymnast, you would not win a single event without being explosive.
