Just wondering the best way to get rid of calusses? I tryed with a pumice stone but it dont rly work.. what sorta stuff do you guys do?

And dont say wear gloves, because i want to get rid of them, not prevent them from comin.

hello mate. well wearing gloves would prevent them from getting much worse, and when doing heavy pulls its not uncommon to tear them clean off, so gloves always help. get a good moisturiser and use it when you get out of the shower and before you go to bed, that will help soften them up loads.

why would you want to get rid of them. personally i prefer a man with big rough palms to one with soft, dainty ones.
but if you really want to get rid of them, i have a guy friend that gets manicures once every wk and soaks his hands in olive oil at night, puts on gloves and goes to bed like that. and yes his hands are extremely soft.

When I was playing football and doing a lot more power lifts I never used to wear gloves so I had horrible calluses. After about 4 years the calluses are gone, but it probably is because I haven't power lifted and wear gloves when I lift. Here is an internet post of someone's idea that I guess works...

How to Remove a Callus
Learn How to Remove a Callus Safely

Everyone gets them at one point or another, those annoying nodules of hardened flesh: calluses, corns, and bunions. All these are the results of excessive rubbing/pressure on the affected area, where the body builds up the flesh in an attempt to protect itself. While calluses start out small and rough and nothing more than a nuisance, if left untreated they can become large and painful. After a year or two of rubbing, calluses can become so cracked and damaged that it requires surgery to remove them. If treated soon enough, it can be very simple to remove a callus.

To remove a callus, fill a bucket/tub with the hottest water you can stand and soak the affected limb in it; if the water is extremely hot, you should only have to soak for about 5 minutes. Once the calluses have turned completely white and soft, use a blunt object, such as the dull side of a dinner knife, to scrape at the white calluses. DO NOT use a sharp object, cut, or saw at the callus. You will destroy your skin, cause scarring, and likely cause the callus to return larger than it previously was. After you have scraped off the majority of the dead skin, use a pumice stone to gently sand the area.

After you have scraped the callus until the white is gone, wash the area gently with soap and dry. After the area has thoroughly dried, you will know whether or not the entire callus has been removed. You may have to repeat the removal process two or more times before the calluses are gone.

After you have removed the entire callus, the skin is still likely to feel rough, though not raised. There are several ways to soften the skin. One method is to regularly steam the area. Unless you have the proper equipment, this method will not be effective, and if you do have the right equipment, the process can still be a lengthy one.

I kind of take pride in my rough hands - people know they come from hard work. Don't let them bother you!

My only problem with them was that when I was sitting around bored in class, work, or at a movie I'd sit and pick at them and ended up with tearing them and it hurt like a biatch...

im gonna follow you around west.. your makingthis boring thursday that much better.. as for the calluses. they are your bodys way of protecting the hands. why would you wanna remove them.. wouldnt that make lifting with gloves even more unbearable

Lotion is your friend. It might not get rid of them but it will soften them up enough so they won't crack making your hands and feet very tough.

after not lifting for a while mine went to shit and i had a hard DL yesterday that ripped em up so i cant wait to get mine back!

OK well as alot of you have said that you are proud of them, like them etc, even find it more attractive when a guy has rough hands the only thing is like someone else said, i end up picking at them making the worse, and its embarrassin when a girl feels them and they are like "eerr wtf have u done to your hands?!" and i have big lumps of hard skin on my hands and fingers, and on my left hand their is one that got ripped off and looks disgusting. So i might try to get rid of them and see what it is like without them and if it makes lifting harder then fuck it ill keep em. So just lotion and moisturiser?

I use something strange on my hands, but I don't have callouses anymore...

emu oil. I buy it on line, although one of the other mods sells it too I think. It's an oil that gets absorbed into your skin really fast and keeps it soft. It's the only thing that's worked really well, and my nails grow like crazy.

I don't like gloves either. I do pick at my callouses, WTF is up with that? Like I'm a bored chimp at the zoo. I use an emery board and file at them constantly. I had one at the base of my left ring finger split way down deep for some reason. Fucker took forever to heal, what a bad place for a split. Lotion is great for softening them but I feel it makes my hands to greasy when I workout.

The solution...don't workout LOL.

Revlon makes what amounts to a "cheese slicer" for your calluses. Slices them right off without issue. Bought it at walgreens for a few dollars. Works wonders.

id rather use a bit of moisturizer than slice bits of my skin off.

I soak my hands in warm water, with a skin softening soap, for about 10 minutes. Then I use what can only be described as a 'cheese grater' for feet, until the 'dead' looking skin is gone. Then I rewash them and apply lotion. The rough spots stay, but at least the dead/peeling skin is gone.

Solution. Use lotion at home... use chalk in the gym. Make sure your grip is good and solid so you don't cause more callus formation then necessary.

callouses are great. between my weight lifting, hard manual labor job, and being a musician, i have plenty and i love them all. i could not function without them because i would get blisters which would hurt like hell. a man should have callouses, women perhaps not so.

I love mine, take a look at any serious lifter and then a pretty boy poser - The lifters all have them in conjuction with a huge build! People without them dont have the size/power in comparison

try lifting, and playing bass like me.
My index and rude finger tips on both hands are really rough as well as my palms.

But those rough tips come in...handy ;)
