Not bad, go with the 2006. it has the v6 while the 2005 has the super charged 4 cyl. As for upkeep it is quite low. Yes it is the c class (poor man's benz) but does look better then every car in the same class

Yes it doesnt handle like the 3 series but they look better and the interior looks classy and clean. If those who argue the 3 series is so much of a drivers car etc, again its a 2.5i inline six so do not let them talk you down as they act like they are driving an M3 CSL or something

get a 2006 and add some 18 inch Amg wheels on it.

(do not de badge the car as it looks like you want it to be an AMG c55 etc)

I have never owned one but I did drive the c230 for about month (2006)
 
I have not looked at 2006 but I would go Audi rather than spend what I spent on crap.

I disagree. I'll give you a few of those, but CLK, SLK, G wagons....child's play. It's like dating an ugly supermodel just cause she is a "supermodel". If you're gonna go all the way....go all the way. It's like those "dudes" who get that little shit BMW Z3. That's not a car, it's a matchbox toy.

With a some mods - a zero to 60 ~ 4 seconds is possible.

If you(in general not YOU) havent driven one - you have NO idea how fast they are.
 
They don't turn that well. I would go with a Bimmer or an Audi before a MB. My grandmother has had MB's since I was a kid, but nothing but the S-class. She's constantly getting them serviced, it's basically part of her monthly to-do list. Pricey every time too, but she definitely has the money. If anything goes wrong with any luxury car, it will cost you, and for some reason, they ALWAYS have to order your goddamn parts. I don't know why you'd get a car like this with 3 kids anyway. Get a Tahoe and wait until the tykes are grown to treat yourselves.
 
This was mine. It rode nice as heck but it had all the acceleration of a covered wagon...tranny wasn't reliable either.

the new clk 63 amg starts out around 90k

SLK can be a fun car. it has its place

G wagon used to be unique when only imported from Europe

The CLK AMG DTM has one but those are so rare and unique that is a different story. I guess MB owners are not the type who would actually want a 2 peddle manual with a computer clutch. Maserati's f1 unit the cambrocisa has so so many problems with clutch wear they know offer the Q in 2007 with a regular automatic. The saloon owners actually just want a regular auto in a sport sedan and I assume wanting the clutch to last more then 10,000 miles. Big props to them as they could over take the S AMG cars and I hope the 7 series. (ugly ugly car) but at the same I guess several Maserati gear heads think an auto is a bad idea for the image. If the automatic sells units it will benefit Maserati North America big time (which means new Maseratis to be designed) The new coupe comes out in a few weeks as it will be shown at an auto show in Europe.

I'm curious what criteria you use to judge a car?

'Cause from your posts, it seems that the only one is size.

And apparently you haven't been keeping up, 'cause the Z3's been discontinued since 2002.

If you get an AMG, your choice is slushbox or slushbox. No manual, no sequential.

Well why does it have to be a 2005? Price shop and look around as you can get the same deal sometimes on an 2006 vs a 2005. Reason why? Maybe a dealership has had that one unit sit on their lot for a long time. Or some dealers are more willing to deal then others.

As well if she is stuck on a C class you can always check out the 280 (6 cyl) and also the C class 350. Decent size engine with some HP

The c class leases so so well so why get a 2007. Great money factor on a C class.

I think it is $3980 down and $299 a month for 27 months. (sunroof etc) (At least a 680 credit score and with MB your debt to income can be up the ass they will still offer you lease


also with the 2005 c class it comes with 17 inch wheels and sport tires and you live in Canada. A rear wheel drive auto with sport tires in the snow isnt the safest idea for your woman. What ever sport sedan you get throw on some tires.

mods? lol @ "some mods". Calling up Brabus or Kleenman isn't cheap. To get any more power of a Benz get ready to drop thousands. A chip and exhaust will cost you probably $4000-$5000 and maybe only give you 12-15 Hp gain and If that. Look at some dyno figures. Several AMG models are supercharged so getting some more out of it is possible but it will $$$.

I love MB (very familar with them. sold several) they feel powerful but not over the top fast. They are so smooth and the trannys are able to shift all the power at such ease you just do not feel the speed. A 100 MPH in a CL 55 AMG feels like nothing. You feel the torque but driving a heavy Benz you do not feel you are going so fast as the cars are so solid. Fast yes but you do not feel it.



The average age of a AMG car owner is a male in his 50s. They are a spirited driver who likes a smooth fast car and the most part to have the AMG badge!!

anyway she has a 4x4 she's happy with now.

I have sold a few C classes when under UAG and I cannot stress enough if you get one, lease the 2007 (or the latest)model financed by M Benz. Do not lease a used auto esp if it is only brand new priced at around $32,000 US dollar new. Leasing a used auto makes since when you are looking at a Ferrari or higher ticket car I saw an add where you can lease a 550 for $1400 a month.

An MB will lease better then about any other car out there. It is the way they set up the buy back amount vs the MRSP. then the resale of the lease return (res. value)

MB = smart ass mofos
