Buying insulin

NOT ALL insulin is OTC only the older ones, such as NPH , R , 70/30 , and U. The reason for this is if a diabetic is traveling and in great need for insulin he/she can purchase it w/o getting delayed buy a DR. having to call in their script.Humalog on the other hand is very strong and you'll have to get a script.(or play very sick)

Look, just call a drug store, tell them that your cousin asked you to pick up some insulin for him....but you don't have a perscrption, can I get it with out one (sound doubtful) ...thats what i did ....worked on the forst place I called....but if you get a no..just call another place...until you find one that says yes ....you want Humulin R
PS the Drugstore across the street from me won't sell me needles to me but there sister store will..thats why I say keep placeing calls until you score

ins.

any Pharmacy will sell you insulin otc, just mention your GF is coming to town for vacation and asked you to pick up a Humilin H 100 .the ins. is the easy part the hard part are the Pins.

One guy said get Humulin R the other said Humulin H. What's the difference and which one is really the one to get?

Humulin-r is the right choice if you can't get humalog. It's the fastest acting insulin next to humalog. Fast is better, it allows you to time your intake of carbs, protein, and fats easily. Peaks in 2 hrs., out of the system in 4.
Humalog is better yet, peaking in 1 hour - but is OTC only in Canada.
You should have no problem getting humulin anywhere in the states.

what's the whole deal with insulin anyway? I apologize for my ignorance as I have only a basic understanding of it's uses. From what I uderstand, insulin is a hormone that your body uses to maintain glucose leves. Wouldn't taking more insulin lower your glucose energy and cause a lethargic mood and extra hunger? Are there anabolic properties to insulin?

Insulin is very anabolic on it's own, with a steroid stack, and especially in a GH and steroid cycle. Basically, it fast tracks nutrients to the right places to cause muscle growth and recovery.
Unfortunately, it will do the same with fats consumed during the active period - to the body's fat stores. This is why the faster types of insulin are easier to use. Much shorter time required to carefully monitor the intake of carbs, proteins, and fats.
