**BULLYING , are schools safe ?**

...but what would you all do, as fathers/mothers, if these were your daughters? ...like in the first link, a group of 14/15 year olds attacks your kid with scissors? I'm sorry, but 14/15 years old is not a child any longer (as opposed to how things were in the 50's), and they full well know right from wrong by that age. ...I would seriously be making sure that the offenders paid physical retribution, in a form they would carry for life. (Okay, now tell me how bad I am.)

well you come from GB, there is a new story in the news everyday, of people killing themselfs, with notes saying that it was because of bullys. and people, mainly girls, useing knifes. or the start of the year, where a group of bullys threw a boy into the school pool and he drowned in it.. Something needs to be done

I'm from Glasgow and I witness such acts on a near daily basis (unprovoked bullying), living near the local high schools. Teachers and heads of education know and do bugger all about it. Some use the argument that it toughens you up, but IMHO bullying today is alot different compared with days gone by.

You just get the sad impression the gov'ment sides with the transgressors rather than the victims in their attempts to keep integrating "troubled youths" into mainstream schools

When I was growing up, our 'coach' had a 'free hits' policy in physical education class. If someone was a dickhead or unsportsmanlike to someone else, all the guys would dogpile the offender on the mats, and each got a 'free hit'. ...mind you, it was just restrained to a slug in the arm usually, and not a real beatdown.

...but, they should take it up a level and use it for bullying. If someone bullies someone else, the whole school should get a free hit (of their choosing) on the bully. ...of course this would never go over in ultra-pussy liberal UK or US.

They have a zero tolerance rule in Texas schools which is complete bullshit. If a kid fights back, that kid gets suspended as well as the kid that starts the fight. I told my daughter if someone ever hits you, beat the shit out of them. I will sue the district if they suspend her for defending herself. Girls fight as much as boys these days.

...and I thought that Texas was one of the last holdouts for common sense. (ie- use of deadly force to protect one's property. ...actually killing murderers, rather than paying their room/board for 40 years.)

yeah and think of the mental effects that it has on some of these kids, like that girl that got STABBED 17x in the lunch queue. how can you honestly see her ever going to school again ? she got stabbed in the eye. now at 18 i have not long come out of school. but i think i was lucky to have come from a school where they were aloud to kick bullys out of the school, no matter what age they are. i remeber i was at head office when i was 13/14, and i was asked to walk a girl home 20mins early because she was getting bullyd, and she was the sweetest girl you would have ever met.

Same zero tolerance rules here aswell. My little sister got 3 days suspension alongside the 2 bullies/ girls that ganged up on her because she decided to defend herself rather than just stand there and take a beating.

we need a KARMA game in schools, and who ever has the highest K at the end of the year, wins a holiday. and when a bully is cought . then everyone chase's them with big RED K's and hit them untill they are black and blue, and maybe they should get water BOMBED. ok im done

Exactly. My mom worked in the school district over 20 years and she hated that rule. She said there were some principals who didn't enforce it.

The way I see it, if you violate, or remove someone elses rights, then your rights are forfeit.
On a different note. There was a 24 yo fellow in my county who attacked his ex teacher the other day. He's been charged with aggravated assault. Turns out the teacher had sexually assaulted the young man when he was a lad.
A 14 yo girl is in fear of leaving her house. The neighbour accross the dtreet had been a good friend of the family, but he mildly assaulted her after she had babysat for him. He was forbidden to go back to his house accross the street. Then her parents found out that he had plea bargained down to common assault & all he got was 30 days community service.
Maybe these 2 miscreants don't deserve to die. & they may or may not have payed their debt to society. But they haven't fucking come close to paying their debt to their victims.

I was bullied as a kid, but nothing like that. & it was usually only one person at a time that took a dislike to me.
When I got up the guts to fight back, it ended.
Last year, my friends son was involved in a situation. Several people had been provoking him over a coupla weeks. He'd reported it to the teachers & the principal. Nothing was done. Then one day three of them attacked him. He fought hard, scared 2 of them away & beat the snot out of the other one. First they suspended him for fighting, then they wanted to expel him because the other fellow was black & they said it was racially motivated.
He got justice because there was a record of the hazing, & there were witnesses to the fight.

and there was that kid, that was getting bullyed because he was black, and then stood up to the bullys, and on the way home that day, he got attacked by 2 other 16 year olds, who beat him up, then smashed a axe into the back of his skull !!!! i think everyone felt for his parents that day of his funeral. what was that boys name ?? ive tried to google it but cant find his name..

This is nothing special here. I've seen stuff like that many times. Back in high schools, you'd have fights everyday...

ok, yeah i was in a few fights, but i would never bully someone. i dont know why it gets to me so much, i just hate the thought of people getting kicks outa, calling people names, hitting them, and slashing their face open, or even hacking open their heads with a axe.
