bulking up the tri's

trying to get my triceps bigger im curently doing triceps by themselves in the morning then doing chest in the evenings will this split work

persnonally don't think the split is gonna do anything!! what is your routine like, ie what exercises are you doing for tris??

I find weighted dips to be the best tris workout, that and overhead tricep extensions with a dumbell leaning back on the incline, (usually standing) so the weight doesn't bang against the bench, I'll warm up with 60's and then work my way up in ten lb incriments to 110 (the highest my gym has) and then work my way back down... then some burnout cable extensions but that is more than probably just over-kill as they are already fried by then!! there's a ton a various tricep routines bt I've found the first 2 to be the best I've found so far!! the main thing is to find a couple tricep exercises you like and then hit them like a madman!!

try adding 5lbs a week to your CGBP. If that doesn't kill em, start adding weighted dips. 3x8 dips, add 10lbs a week until you can't finish the reps, AFTER you cgbp.

i say heavy presses, and then at the end of a workout i like the cables for really high reps to failure, just pump a fuckload of blood into it

S8n and inhibitor hit it on the money here. Compound, compound, compound!! Heavy and hard with increasing weight weekly. I do dips (weighted and none weighted) one day at the end of the session and on a few days later will do CG Bench at the end heavy. I pick one weight for three sets at 8-10 reps. My goal is to add 5lbs weekly to it and have been successful the last 6 weeks. And eat like a homeless person!

Honestly? I think laying off the fluff work for tris and putting your all into the presses will do the most. Close grip is also a good press if you can go fairly heavy.

Homeless people have no food, so why do you want him to starve himself?

Hahahah... ok, I stand corrected. Eat like a homeless person would if they were given a buffet to eat at!!

You can't be given a buffet, you can only be given access.

I would split those days up since your tris willb e fried for chest and you'll short-change your chest workout. If tris are your focus thouhg, put them at the start of the week and first in the workout. Try changing up exercises, work on getting them stronger, and even try playing with volume and frequency with which you train your triceps.

Or if you must do chest and tris on the same day, at least work chest heavy first(compound) and then do the isolation stuff working only the tris..

Per Na Na's commentary, doing it the other way will mean your chest workout
= the suck.

all you guys are right and wrong, at the same time in my opinion.

just pick an excersise thats heavy as fuck, and involves pushing, and increase weeek to week and eat lots of food.

if your doing all your presses, like your benching, and overhead presses, you shouldnt have this problem.

but now we can't argue!! unfair.... ;). Have to agree though. And I believe you meant "if you are benching *correctly* 'cause if your a shoulder bencher you have more problems than your tri's"
