Thanks for asking. It's finally on it's way back to normal. The swelling went down this morning (five days later) and I can now walk almost normally on it again. Nothing broken, just a real deep bruise.

It'll be back to cardio by Sun or Mon, I hope. I'm feeling awful lazy not getting up at 4 am to get it in, but I'm definitely enjoying the time off. ;)

Plan to get in some ab work tonight

This may be my last normal week for a long time. Next week are going-away parties, movers to pack up and load my stuff, no refridgerator/cooking supplies for at least 5 days from next Thur-the following Tue, etc.

I was gonna ditch the diet tonight and enjoy some cajun cooking but decided it wasn't worth it. They'll be plenty of times to slip up in the next 4-6 weeks so why do it tonight! That, plus I can already taste the cheeseburger and fries on Sat night... :chomp:

On a side note though: I need to enjoy what little time I have left with all my friends down here and let things fall by the way-side. In 12 days, I'll be leaving behind some of the best friends I've ever had and starting over completely by myself. At this point, food needs to be the least of my worries. Plenty of time to get back on track come March or April.

Okay, side-tracked rant is now over. Just needed to remind myself to take it one day at a time and enjoy this last week while I still can. My biggest worry is now out of the way, although I'll say it softly so as not to jinx it: I think the house is sold!!!

Woohoo!:dance2: Congrats on the sale of your house!!! That must be a HUGE relief.

Now go enjoy your last week, spend quality time with your friends and get back on track as soon as you can!!

We will keep our fingers crossed in regards to your house ;) Enjoy your final days there with your friends and family - good ones are few and far between!

This sounds delish! You are definitely being creative in seeking out new protein sources

It was sooo good I think I'll have it again tonight. I'm getting tired of the same old chix and turkey. That and food network seems to keep inspiring me to try new things. :chomp: Not the best channel to watch when you're trying to drop bf, but definitely strengthens the willpower. ;)

I'm on the hunt for a good marinade to broil/grill shrimp in tonight. If anyone knows of any, I'm all ears. Grilled chix/tky/bison is starting to get a little old.
I'm looking for a good one too. I used Lawry's for the first time last weekend and liked it. I use Raspberry Walnut Vinegarette sometimes too.

I'll have to check out Lawry's although the sodium content may be high (??). I ended up just combining lime juice, a little worchestershire sauce, minced garlic and onion powder together. Somehow it turned out real good!

LOL!!! That actually sounds pretty good! My fiance gets mad at me when I get bored with food. He was raised by his great Aunt and she cooked the typical old school meat and potatoes. No spices, just the food. I start going all out in left field trying to make food a little more exciting and he gets all pissy about it! lol

I like using lemon and vinegar with various other spices, but have to split up mine and his - pain in the ars!!!!

:wavey:

It is awesome to see how you are staying on track even though you have so much going on in your life. This is where I tend to fall down. Is there anything in particular that keeps you motivated?

And good news on the house sale

Make sure you enjoy your friends, like IP said, they're very hard to find.

Thanks mermaid, that means a lot to me.

Actually, the reason I can stay motivated is pure selfishness on my part. I've had so many people that used to make fun of me for being overweight, lazy, etc... Then, once I started working out they all told me I couldn't do it, that I was crazy for trying, and then when I stuck with it they would tell me how obsessive I was. Just all kinds of wierd attitudes that I've encountered since I started my journey 4 years ago.

So, I stick with it just to prove everyone single one of them wrong! Like I said, pure selfishness but it's exactly that kind of thing that makes me motivated.

I don't remember who it was, possibly bowtech, that said awhile back that only about 3% of the population can stick with this kind of lifestyle. You, me and the other wonderful ladies on this board are part of that 3% and I intend to never go back to the other 97%.

Hugs and kisses to you for sticking with it too... :bigkiss:

Ha! I won't tell you then that's one reason I got divorced. ;)

j/k, although I know where you're coming from. My ex couldn't stand it when I started messing with different foods. I've getting a little braver (is that a word?) now that he's gone. Sometimes that spells disaster... :worried:

I usually make things we all can eat and enjoy, but this last time it got a little too spicy for him. He'll get over it! lol

My willpower has really shot up lately. Guess because I know I'm gonna blow it this week. Oh well, that's life. I'm actually looking forward to a week of eating some "bad" things. It seems like it's been so long.

It's cheeseburgers and fries and milkshakes tomorrow. :p But, I really have to work for it. Doing a 6 mile trail run (first time ever) with some friends in the morning. Then off to eat... I just hope my toe can handle it!

LOL...I had temporarily forgotton about my addiction to pita and hummus. But yes, hummus is a total red light food for me and is forbidden to be brought into my house. Once I start, I cannot stop till I'm completely done. :chomp: ;)

Looking at your calories, it sounds like you did really well again with your meal out. I need to learn from you to be able to enjoy restaurant eating without going overboard. Good job, BG!! :verygood:

1. GREAT job on the military press record this week!

Oh, I wish you hadn't said that! :) Not after I ate a 5.5 oz cheeseburger, about a dozen onion rings, who knows how many french fries and a cheesecake milkshake. But, it was my "scheduled" cheat for the week and I outdid myself.

But, for some reason I don't feel bloated or sick like I usually do. Not sure if this is a result of the sesapure I just started a few days ago or just wasn't as greasy as I thought it would be. Hopefully that will register on the scale in the morning, but I think I've seen the last of 133 for a few days. Only about 4 more going-away parties to go... :worried:

Wow - thanks!! I'm feeling pretty confident in the weight room lately and not afraid to push myself anymore. All I need now is a workout partner/trainer to push me a little harder and I'll be feeling pretty good. That'll have to wait for NY, though.

Definitely enjoyed that cheeseburger and fries! :chomp:

Ugh, good luck! I get 1% and I actually can't stand it. But I've found if I put in a packet of splenda, some fruit (any kind of mashed berries will do) and a little natty PB it's tolerable. :)

You know, I'm never really concerned with WHAT it is as long as it provides my macros. It's always fun to change up the diet. So easy to get bored!

Ugh, today was not a good day. Went to have my body fat tested before I left, kind of as a baseline to when I really start up again. It hasn't moved one iota from the last time!!! My weight has dropped 3 lbs, all of my clothes are looser (I'm in a size 4 for crying out loud, down from an 8). And my stupid fat measurement is still the same! Still sitting at 18%!!

So, I'm going to be analyzing this diet and try to come up with something different after the move. Maybe time to cut out the few slices of bread I have, along with that horrible cottage cheese! I'm gonna hate to give up those whole wheat tortillas but something's gotta go. Granted my cheat meals have been overboard now that I have so many going-away parties and my stress level has been through the roof.

But, I stil would have thought I would have dropped a little, even if it was down just 1%. Geez, talk about feeling like a failure... :sulk:

**Went out to eat with a friend who needed a shoulder to cry on. One nice thing about getting crappy bf results is that your appetite suddenly seems to disappear. No way in hell was I going to consider anything remotely damaging to my diet, even though at the time all I could think about was giving up. But, being the perfectionist that I am, quitting is not an option.

Please don't let that one number of bf% rule you. Look at all the other progress you've mentioned here including that you WENT FROM A SIZE 8 TO A SIZE 4. That is a huge accomplishment!! There are a lot of factors that come into play with bf% testing from the water you may be holding to even doing just one pinch incorrectly. And honestly it does get a lot harder to drop when you get into that lower range...however, you're doing an excellent job at this time with all the eating out and stress you got going. Keep it up girl, and it WILL come off!

Believe me stress and food are two definite culprits in dropping body fat. Don't be so hard on yourself. You have a strating point now. I mean before you started at a higher BF went from an 8 to a 4 that's a great accomplishment. Give yourself a break and go at it full throttle again. There's plenty of time and it's not swimsuit season right now anyway! Keep your chin up!

^^ prior two posts say it all.

You got the number, use it as a reference point to make the appropriate changes. DO NOT let it define your accomplishments, you're doing a great job. Tweak, Tighten & work hard. :)

:bigkiss:

Thanks lovely ladies! You don't know how much I needed that right now.

Today was my last day of work at this office and it was so much harder than I thought it would be. I started crying a couple hours before I left and haven't really stopped since. :(

This may be the last time I post for awhile. I get my internet disconnected Friday morning and then don't know when I'll have access again. Could be as early as Tuesday, could be another 4-6 weeks.

In the meantime, I'll keep trying to make good food choices and keep things under control. Then it's full throttle come about the middle of March. I'll try to check in when I can, even if it is just to lurk for awhile. Until next time...

We will miss you, BG! :bigkiss: Wishing you a very smooth move and transition to your new home....we'll be right here waiting for your return. I know you'll make the best food choices possible in the interim because I've seen that determination in you, girl!!

Hello Buffalo Gal,

Excuse my ignornance but what is a T-Rex? and Gluconell?

Are you basing your calorie intake on body fat or total weight? Do you have the HARRIS-bENEDICT formula for weight loss?

Relaxing before last of abs!

Good luck, BG! We'll all be here for ya' whenever you feel like stopping in! It's hard to leave people you love, but there's always the telephone, e-mail and vacations - don't forget about that!

See you back here soon!!!!!

Ha - Bet you thought I wasn't looking... ;)

Guess they don't turn off my internet til morning. Thanks for all the well-wishes gals! I need them more than ever. The buyer for my house backed out today.

But, here's to maintaining a healthy attitude as I make the transition to a better and much brighter future. This new job really is a dream come true and that's what I need to focus on now.

I'll miss you girls, but will be back better than ever very very soon. Until then, eat clean and enjoy your workouts for me. It'll be a long time until I'm settled into a routine again. I can't wait until that happens - I'll be ready to kick some a$$ by then!!

Hi ladies, I made my way up to NY and am "trying" to get back in the swing of things. Have stocked up as much clean food as I can in my mini-fridge.

Went and checked out gyms today, first day in town. The first one looked pretty good, reasonable rates and a personal trainer who may be able to help with comp. prep, although I haven't talked to him yet.

The 2nd was at Bally's. I explained to the guy I wanted to do a comp either in Oct or next spring and told him I did 20 min HIIT cardio every other day, one body part per day split, and ate fairly clean (relatively speaking judging from the last week :worried: ). Then I went on to explain I'd like to get down near 10% for my comp (just a wild guess from me at this point) and he told me I would plateau. And that it was also IMPOSSIBLE to lose 1% BF per week.

He then went on to tout Bally's nutrition website and how a clean diet only accounts for about 50% of a total workout program. I told him I was able to drop 7% BF in 10 weeks and his jaw hit the floor. Oh, if only he could meet you girls on here. The guy just didn't have a clue (obviously judging from the looks of him). But, I did get a free pass for tomorrow and he'll be out of town, so I think I'll use it just to get a workout in without having to see him. Then, take the week trial membership at the one I actually liked and go from there.

So, I think I may be back into some semblance of a routine. My eating hasn't been real good and it's taking a drain on me mentally. Just stopping in to share my gym experience! I'll see how much I'm able to post, considering I'm now on dial-up...

YEA!! I am so happy to see you back and that you made it to NY safely. It is great to hear that you are already settling in (a little) and getting familar with the new city.

I know that looking for a new gym can be a chore, but I am sure that you will find you a great one. Just stay away from that Bally's one - WOW!! (I am speechless on that one) :worried:

Anyways, keep your head up and try to do the best you can with the resources you have available to you right now. Know that you will be able to be back on a schedule and back on track in no time. But, for now give your self a little slack :qt: Hang in there BG and know that we are all behind you 100%!!

Way to hustle on finding a new gym!!! To be honest, I was a member at Bally's down in Atlanta, and I wasn't all that impressed with it. They have more of a barbie feel - or they use to anyway. I HATED how all the cardio equipment was in the middle of the room and ELEVATED about 4 feet so everyone was free to STARE at you! URG!!!

Stay focused....and don't let the eating slide too much or it will be hard to pull it back tight. Good luck!

....and sorry to hear about the dial-up :worried:

I'm so happy to see you back, BG! :bigkiss: I know you haven't been gone too long, but I've missed reading your daily log.

Good job on already looking around for a gym! I haven't had the most positive experience with Ballys either. It's marketed for the masses and tends to be very crowded after work. But the first gym sounds like it has potential and you'll get a much better feel after that one week trial. Anyway, hang in there with your limited resources....it's awesome that despite your current situation that you're doing your best to stick to your program. That in itself speaks volumes on your dedication and I'm sure you'll have NO problem competing when you decide.

:) WOW do I despise Bally's ... as does my credit they kindly ruined when I was away at college and "never received" my request for cancellation.... Long story.

That's funny about that trainer... teehee :)

:wavey:

Thanks girls! That pretty much summed up my feeling today when I went in to work out. I wasn't overly impressed with it at all. Especially when the guys were staring at me as I did squats and the bench press. Guess they don't get a lot of women in there. The ones they do get must stick to the "women's only" room.

I'll give this other one a shot tomorrow and see how it goes.

^^^ This very reason is the more important reason why I left in the 1st place ... Not very appealing when eyes are glued to your crotch doing abduct/adductor Leg exercises ...

*ick*

I moved to Women's but it was too crowded, no weights, timed machines ... See Ya Bally's ... Better luck tomorrow Hun. :)

:bigkiss:

I'm trying very hard not to let it go all to pieces. Pieces of bread here and there, stupid protein bars were about all I could get out on the road. I've been trying to order grilled chix or salmon (now that I've gotten used to it) and salads.

Only problem is I had no access to fitday and makes me wonder about the totals. I'm sure my carbs were way too high. Either way, I'll just make sure to do the best I can. Unfortunately, my morning cardio's gone for the time being and that doesn't help at all. As long as I can maintain where I am, I should have no trouble picking back up in due time.

:spit: You read my mind girl. That's the EXACT reason I skipped that machine today!

Big fat ditto to that! Let us know how it goes, BG...

I would also just recommend putting a packet of splenda and pumpkin pie spice into your eggbeaters and just drinking it without microwaving it. I do that sometimes, and it's not bad at all. Eggbeaters by itself is pretty tasteless. I also just throw it into my oatmeal and eat it all like cereal with milk. I got Salmonella as a child from eggs and to this day, I can't smell a real egg without wanting to hurl. So I've become very used to those liquid egg white containers.

I see that you're now a salmon eater too....I guess you didn't find it as fishy tasting. Good! It's easy to get at restaurants and is a good source of Omega-3 too.

Hang in there, girl! You're doing GREAT

Wow, you girls are awesome! Thanks for the suggestion on the Egg Beaters RT. I may try to do that. The consistency of microwaved egg beaters is pretty nasty!

The first day on the job was outstanding! I think I definitely made the right choice. Everyone was extremely friendly and just made me feel right at home. I'm definitely looking forward to working there. :)

Thanks for asking Mermaid. The house went back on the market and was sold within 24 hours! Just waiting for the paperwork to come through and I'm free and clear of it. Closing is in about 3 weeks. I met the couple who bought it and they were extremely friendly. They're moving in from out-of-state and had to get something immediately, so I don't think there's any chance of this falling through. I hope...

So far I've only had about 500 cals today. Am going to try to find a place to get salmon (thanks RT for starting that craving for me!). Then I'm gonna hit this new gym to get in my shoulders and some cardio tonight.

Sounds like you're off to a wonderful start!!! Good for you! It's so much easier when things fall into place with seemingly no effort! You're on your way! :)

^^^On my way and ready to kick some butt!!

Checked out the gym and it wasn't too bad. The equipment was old, but as long as it works I don't really care. People of all ages in there, booty call for some of the younger kids but I can tune that out.

Only drawback was that it was so damn hot in there! I spent 10 min on the elliptical and was sweating like a pig and felt dizzy from the heat. Blech... Could have been because I had a full stomach and I don't do cardio well on a full stomach, but either way it was sooo stinking hot. Think I'll try it a few more times and maybe check out a couple more in the meantime. At least I got my shoulders in though... ;)

What she said!! Everything is really looking up for you, BG!! Yay! :elephant:

Hey BG - How is the new job going this week? I haven't seen you on in a couple of days, just wanted to make sure that everything was ok. I am sure that you are REALLY busy with everything though. Just keep your head up and keep that diet in check as much as possible. We look forward to hearing from you soon! ;)

Thanks IP!! The first two days on the job went great.

I decided to play hookey this weekend and spent two days in beautiful Vermont just road-tripping. Did not worry about my diet, exercise, work or anything. Just enjoyed what may be my last weekend like this for awhile. Tomorrow I start the hunt for a house, getting seriously back into my diet, officially joining a gym, etc. I just needed a two day break to re-group.

So I'm back, hopefully for good for awhile. ;)

OH wow - it sounds like you had a blast this past weekend!! GOOD FOR YOU!! Glad to see you renewed and rearing to go!! ;)

Best of luck house hunting, I know how frustrating that can be sometimes. Try to enjoy the process as much as possible though. :-)

Thanks IP!! The first two days on the job went great.

I decided to play hookey this weekend and spent two days in beautiful Vermont just road-tripping. Did not worry about my diet, exercise, work or anything. Sounds like a nice relaxing time! You needed it.

Ugh, I already hate house-hunting. Problem is, I want to rent but have two big dogs that nobody seems to want! Think I'm going to end up having to buy with money that I do not have!! :worried:

Oh, Girl!! Tell me about the dog thing!!! You got your babies back?!?!?!? (that WAS you, right?)

Unfortunately, I don't have them back yet. My ex-husband is watching them until I can find a place and run back down to get them.

I have no idea what I'm gonna do. I miss my pups like crazy, I'm in a strange place, left all my friends behind, have no place to live and can't even have my dogs to keep me company.

Plus I went and checked out 4 more gyms and none of them felt right at all. So, it's down to Bally's and this other gym. I prefer Bally's because it "feels" open and has almost all the equipment I'm used to and seems to be cleaner. But the guy who showed me around was an idiot, although I suppose I won't have to deal with him much. I don't know what to do - guess I'm just feeling sorry for myself at the moment. The loneliness seems to have finally caught up with me. :sulk:

Ohhhhh, nooowwww, stop that! You're off to a great start! I'm sure you'll find somewhere that will allow your dogs. As far as the gym goes, go with the one that feels right. Even if it's just temporary. Once you get to know people, things will change and you'll feel more comfortable.

You'll be ok, just take it a day at a time and it will fall into place. :rose:

 Thanks hun!

Just need to pull my head out of my a$$. Plus, being that time of the month and completely out of my routine is getting to me. I think I'll go with Bally's tomorrow and then find a trainer/nutritionist sometime in the spring to get me ready to compete.

The good news is, everyone at my new job knows my plans for competion up front and are extremely supportive. I think I'm gonna make some good friends here eventually! :)
