We have this funky bar at the gym....I think its called a Buffalo Bar....

Olympic size but with a huge U in the middle....

What's this for how can I use it?

Of course nobody in my 'club' uses it...

Thanks.

slide that bitch under the bench, toss some a few plates on both sides, and do shrugs till your traps look like Holyfields.........great isolation - no cheating

Interesting idea.

(Aside: is that you in your avatar, J? If it is, how come you hate arm days so much? That gent's arms don't look deficient; they look to be a pretty good match for his neck, and his neck ain't skinny by any means. Excellent conditioning, too.)

I'm still a little confused...I thought a cambered bar already had a slight bend, like if Coleman was using it to squat with....

This one has a very pronounced u shape directly in the middle....

Love jkurtz's idea...gotta try that one....

cambered has a u shape.
safety squat is weird shaped with shoulder pads in the middle
buffalo bar looks like its bent

If I ever saw someone do that with a buffalo bar I would probably try to kill them, plus the buffalo bar is much thicker than a normal bar almost 2" so shruggin that bitch is not as easy on the grip as you think. the bar weighs 52lbs and is bent from collar to collar to let is sit naturally on ones traps and rear delts. For squater who are bigger in stature it helps alleviate any shoulder problem by squating often. I use it because it sits a little lower and throws my balance off a little, basically it makes me lean a little bit forward compared to my standar style which in turn activates the glutes and hamstring more and allows you to realy stay tight with proper arch
