The winner of my Easter bonnet contest last night had a theme of Brokeback Bonnet going on.

Yes. Everything that you can possibly, remotely, think and conjur up regarding the words "brokeback" was on that damn hat. Martha Steward on LSD ain't got shit on this dude.

I will post more in a couple hours and tell you more. But a hair over $19,000 was raised. This was the most successful one I have had ever. In terms of entries and prizes awarded / raffled.

Out of all the unusual moments of this party (and there were many) the biggest was :


Ok, not too long ago I remodeled my master bathroom, using a shower design that completely unique and beyond anything 99% of the people have seen before. The design of my shower system is actually against regulations in the U.S. (who cares?) It was finished 3 weeks ago and last night was the first time I had shown it to anyone.
Well to make a long story short, the whole night you would hear the shower turn on and off as guests wandered in there to marvel at it. Well at one point... the shower kept running and running and running and I could see the door to the master bedroom was closed so I thought "some dumbass queen didn't turn it off" I go in there, and in the middle of the party a girl is showering. Have you ever heard of such shit? you ever go to a party and in the middle of the party just go take a shower? She saw me and said "oh hey, hope you don't mind if I use your shower." I mean, like it was as casual as saying "hey can I borrow your phone".

She did however get out of the shower in time to rejoin the party and bust into third place with her bonnet theme.

You know I admit to doing some really stupid shit at other people's parties. Especially ones that I have no care to be at in the first place, but this was wayyyy out there. I am going to try it myself in the future.

And I wouldn't mind at all if a chic took a shower at a party in my house....I'm not gonna get into exactly why, but I want to see the master bath none the less.

I will take a pic later today when I am home. But the system is based on the Rain Sky model from http://www.dornbracht.com/en/. But it was 100x more difficult for the guy to make because my bathroom ceiling is built in a slant. To lay the grill flat would have required some of the plumbing pipes and wiring to be exposed or either a completely new ceiling being installed. i would have shit my drawers over that nastiness.

My shower floor is sand colored, tan, and off white quartz stones with fiber optics laid underneath them so they light up and glow (to match my counter tops that glow as well). I have 8 mini heads built in the floor as well that releases mist/steam. I turned the wall of the old shower into french doors that open outside to a small patio / courtyard. So you can have an open air feeling to showering if you want.

You just don't know how easy it is easy. I was going to go with granity countertops, but I found a quartz color/design that I liked and when the salesman held it up I would see how easily light was let through. My mind started clicking... hummm.... light.... fiber optics... underneath and a nice glow...

That was my starting point. then i went to look at tile for the shower floor and found some quartz stones similiar to these :

but in a more natural earth stone color (tan, beige, off white, etc..) and in various sizes. you can buy tile already laid out like that in 16"x16" squares and when you lay it, it looks seamless and like you just poured a floor full of natural stone to look like a riverbed. I laid the fiber optics first, then laid the tiles sitting on a 3/4" bed to give it height to be even with the rest of the floor and help with an unnoticeable slope to the drain, then when the white grout was used to seal the tile squares it smoothed right out. Only the stones light up and not to a degree that it looks like they *shine*. they just give off a warm glow. Which when you have a steam mist swirling around the floor is just awesome.

I'm gonna keep the upstairs baths kind of simple, but classy, but that shit is DEFINATELY gonna be incorporated in the basement bathroom. (my basement is going to be transformed into a shag palace btw). Hopefully, I can lure a woman or two down there when it's finished
