Friend of mine broke his collar bone when someone judo thew him into an eight-hundred year old tiled library floor. He was out of sports for 2 months and was pretty much back to himself in 12 weeks or so. Maybe he was luck or unlucky and maybe his break is nothing like your but there you are...

i broke my collarbone really bad last year in a dirtbike crash and they put a steel plate and 8 screws in it. I was back at the gym within 3 weeks. The plate held it really solid so it didnt move, but if you dont have a plate i would wait a month or 2

sounds like mid oct ill go super light,by nov get back to 75% of what i did b4 all this....im gonna take it easy,no hurry, but im not too happy about a 3 month delay.people tell me 6-8 wks....doctor says i should be good around 8 weeks but i think 12 to be sure would make me feel good about hitting the weights again

should i expect some exercises to feel funny on my damaged clavicle?there letting it overlap and heal that way.

i was out of hockey like 4 weeks and lifting in like 6.. then again i seem to recover from every injury pretty fast.. but its totally how your body reacts to the healing process

dude you're asking a medical question on the internet. ask your doctor when it can start supporting weight again, and go by his conservative estimate.

then when you come back start doing lower weight higher reps for maybe a week. if it feels okay then i'd jump back in completely.

Exactly. Great advice, CasualBB. If you want to share experiences with others who either have the same injury or know someone who has, then do just that. But, nothing can replace the sound medical advice your Dr gives based on your individual issues.

That said, stay healthy and heal up, and good luck.

It won't be hard for you to tell when you are ready to come back.

I've broken both collarbones, and for me it took about 2-3 months each time before I could really bench again without feeling discomfort. My right collarbone actually snapped completely in half, and healed up all fucked up like a chicken wing lol.

Anyways - take it easy, your body will know when it's ready to handle weights again. And good luck - collarbones are one of the most anoying breaks - you don't realize how much you move your arms and shoulders throughout the normal course of a day until it hurts like shit everytime you do.
