What are they attempting to repair with the surgery? I thought one just wore a cast for a month or something.

Too bad your gf was too busy showing her tits to hold the ladder.
I guess the way I broke it, I have one bone grinding on another bone with no cartiladge in between. So bone A has to be put back in place and screwed in.
duder, think twice about that please. These days orthapedists ALL prefer to do surgery on broken ankles, but it is usually not totally neccesary.
I had 3 breaks in two of the ankle bones 7 years ago, and I have pain in the plate and screws pretty much every day. They cause a lot more trauma to the injured area doing the "repair" than occured from the original break. In most cases surgery isn't actually essential, and in some ways the longterm prognosis is worse than if you didn't get them screw plates and pins into your pins. They just prefer to do surgery b/c it is way more expensive than an office visit and it's easier for them to set the bones. Don't let them hussle you into surgery before you find out more about this.
An orthapedist is trained to manipulate the bones manually to move them back, and they will if you refuse the surgery.
Ask this question for starters: what's likely to be the worst outcome if you just reset the break(s) manually? Dont let them use bullshit scare tactics like what could happen. Anything could fucking happen. You could die under the anesthesia, right? What will most likely happen.
Yeah, but maybe they could give him a Terminator leg. How fuckin' sweet would that be?
For me, not very sweet as my inevitable victory would take a bit longer than planned once we are in the cage.
How long before you can squat and deadlift again?
fug i hope you aren't working under the table

surgery was done yesterday, been asleep for about 24 hours. saw my x-rays with two screws in my ankle, looks pretty rad.
rottenwillow: a lot of that occurred to me and I suppose I should have thought about it more but I was basically told (not sure if its true or not) that if I wasnt operated in within a couple days Id have to wait about two weeks for the swelling to go down. and without the procedure more likely than not I'd have arthritis ina years time due to the way I broke through all my cartiladge. everything was covered and whats done is done so I can jsut heal now. he also said I could have the screws removed once the bone is healed if I wish, and that would still be covered under the worker's comp umbrella
I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, especially when you feel shitty, but you'll most likely end up with arthritis anyway. I've gotten cynical as hell about all this ankle surgery shit since everyone I'd met who's broken their's has apparently been told "OMG surgery now or your skull will explode...sign here".
