Breakfast Critique

OK, so as most of you can relate I am on the go from 4-5 in the morning. I am really having a hard time creating a quick at least somewhat healthy breakfast I can take with me. I need something that can last for at least 3-4 hours until I can get to work and get going to have my midmorning snack. Well......this last week I "sinned" and went to the waffle house for breakfast since I was running late. (yes I know, 1000 lashes for eating at the waffle house, but I am human you know!) I had a breakfast sandwhich there, and was thinking I could make it much healthier myself at home. It was grilled bread, egg over easy with cheese and bacon on it. It tasted ok but guilt makes things taste bad sometimes (except with ice cream).
SO, if I toast whole wheat bread, dont use oil to cook up some eggs or eggs whites as well, and use fat free cheese and no bacon, what do you think? I tried it at home and slapped a little fat free mayo on it and it tasted great. I know it's isn't the healthiest meal I could have but there are some mornings where I need a good long lasting breakfast. Out of this I get good carbs, good protein, and a little fat. Thoughts?

Not a bad meal, but not the best if you're really serious about your diet.

What I do when I'm in a hurry is I throw 1tbsp of Flaxseed Oil, 1 banana, 1 cup of Oats, 1 serving of Whey, and 1 1/2 cup of Water in the blender. It's actually quite filling, and takes just long enough to throw everything in and blend to prepare.

That's close to what I do for breakfast

I scramble a cup of 2nd nature eggs, toast a slice of 9 grain bread, spread some Smucker's natural peanut butter and sugar free jam on it, add an apple on the side with half a scoop of whey in a cup of fat free milk.

BTW has anyone else seen the new peanut butter with flaxseeds in it?

I just go with 2 servings of protein for 45g prot total and add a cup of quacker oatmeal and blend with water and drink. You can use milk if your prefer it and are not cutting.

I end up doing that alot to

oatmeal and a protein shake. or oatmeal and eggs. or eggs and fiber one.

dude, your meal is fine, but I am a skinny hard-gainer, so don't listen to me.

Thanks for everyones reply. I have tried it for a few days and it is a nice change from blending everything. I swar I am getting sick of that frigin blender. :D I think if I keep the bread whole grain and use eggwhites or mix the egg/eggwhites up a bit and use fat free cheese it can be a healthy and filling breakfast to change things up. I will maybe have this 2 or 3 times in a 7 day week. My right index finger is getting HUGE from all my blending...frigin puree button!

I make all my food on Sundays so it's ready for the week. For breakfast I like to make oatmeal "pancakes". You can make them at night, put them in ziplock baggies in the fridge and then just grab it on the way out the door in the morning.

Lots of variations, and depending on your macros/cals you can add whatever you like. You just need to make it the consistency of batter by tweaking oats and egg.

Main ingredients:
Raw oats
Egg (or egg whites/eggbeaters, etc)
Cinnamon

Optional flavor/add-ins:
Splenda
Raisins
Chopped Apple or Banana
Cottage Cheese or Protein Powder for added protein
SF maple syrup

Spray a pan with cooking spray, pour it in and cook on both sides. Voila! I make mine with oats, eggbeaters, cinnamon and raisins. When I take it out of the fridge in the morning it's like eating a big oatmeal raisin cookie for breakfast! :)
