Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu + gift ideas

I hope you can help me.... My boyfriend trains/teaches BJJ everyday. He trains in Canada, but to get his belts he has to go to New York. He will be going for his next belt (brown) in Jan. For Christmas I got him a new Gi, some Gracie clothing, & a few tech. books. His B-day is in the first week of Jan. & I would love to get him something that would help with his training. Do you have any ideas of what he could use. He hits the heavy bag & does JJ everyday.....any gear/equipment that you think he would like?
Thank you! :)

Yeah, they are great ideas, but he has sooooo many! I seen this cool watch on a website, looks like a normal watch, than if you get in a fight you pull the strap & hold it like a rear naked choke. Do you do BJJ? Do you think this would work, or be silly? Thanks!!

Maybe the watch might be cool, but it depends on the watch he wears now. Some guys (like me) really like the look of their watches and so its really hard to decide if its the look they like. Along the lines of weapons, maybe some sort of weapons would be good. Has he ever considered taking up training in knife defense, or maybe stick fighting? There's equipment for those kinds of things. Or sword, although that wouldn't be practical on the street. Myself, I train in philipino stick fighting, with escrima batons. Its easy to learn, but effective and fun. Plus, you can utilize many things in place of the stick if you ever need to, like a stick laying on the ground or something else. Then use what u learned in training. Its not deadly, either. Some people get weapons like swords just as conversation pieces, too. Many of them look wicked bad.

Some grappling shorts such as 'sprawl' brand. Round trip paid trip to Gracie Barra in Rio de Janero. How much cash do you want to spend?

Thanks guys. All good ideas. Trip to Brazil would be awesome. Actually, we are planning to go next Feb. He wants this belt first. I e-mailed the Gracie academy in NY to see if they will have any private classes he can take.
Thanks guys!

I was also going to suggest privates with Renzo in NYC. My instructor loves Gracie Barra. He says that his BJJ game goes through the roof whenever he visits. He claims at any point there are hordes of BJJ bad asses there to train.

I think he trains with Renzo when he goes to NY. I wonder if your instructor & my BF have ever trained / heard of the other. What's your instructors name if you don't mind me asking? Thanks, for the reply!
