BP concerns..need experienced input!!

punch

New member
whats up my fellow bros.

I had a question regarding BP and cycles. Actually its more of a concern. Been training for over 20 years. Im not 40 yet. Heart disease runs in my family. I came close to doing a show last year but couldnt do to work demands. So here is my deal...I have for the past few years had elevated BP.. high 130's over mid 80's. Doc wasnt to concerned but stated I would have to watch it. I recently had my blood work done up and my Cholesterol was in check...190 or so...HDL was good...LDL low...but my BP was 140/90...so the doc said I need to go on BP med...I tried Lisinopril( spelling ) and tossed it in the garbage after 5 days, worst feeling Ive ever had. I have been monitoring my BP at home and for the last month its avg. has been 138/89. I want to begin a cycle of Sustanon and Deca...keeping it relatively mild...no more than 500 mg per week. Can anyone give me advice to calm my concerns. BTW...I had a stress test done and was perfectly normal. I have a great wife and kids and dont want to do something stupid. One last note...my doc has asked me several times if I was on...also when I took my shirt off for the stress test the cardiologist was very suspect and actually laughed when I told him I have never juiced..Need some good solid no BS guidance....Thanks

I will def. look into. That being said Im wondering if its ok to do cycle now with current BP. Ive spoken with many friends of mine who have competed in the past. Quite a few have had and continue to have high BP even well after cycle and appropiate PCT.

I don't use gear but I had resting blood pressure of 160/95 for almost a year. I was put on diovan and it lowered it to 120/70-75. Zero side effects. That was almost a year ago. I quit taking it and my blood pressure was around 150/85-90 up until a month ago. I am an FF/EMT-I. I know keeping that high of BP without medication is stupid. Honestly, I just did not feel like going to the doctor anymore and worrying/talking about it anymore.

Since Dec. 31st, I have lost 19 lbs - around 13 inches total body, and increased my cardio to every day doing a HIIT style cardio, eaten 0 unanswered sugars, changed my diet completely, and drink around 1 1/2 gallons of water daily. Supplements include 4.5 grams of Flax seed oil via capsules, Lipoflame 3-4 times a week, Amplify o2 2-3 times a week,(Lipoflame and Amp o2 mainly for the energy boost in the gym and during cardio) a multivitamin, potassium and magnesium supplements - low dosages and I try to consume more potassium than I do sodium - not sure if this is a contributing factor, but the complete diet and exercise life style change has. I can assure it.

Weight when BP was high - 280-290 lbs. Weight as of this morning 268.8. Body fat is still high as hell. But its coming off. My resting BP is now 122/66 as of this morning and has been averaging for the past week @ 120/72. With zero medications.

My personal experience. Good luck.

Thats a very interesting post. I did something similar with my Cholesterol years ago. My doc wanted to put me on meds because it was 260...I cleaned up my diet..added almonds, cuts refined sugar...etc...now my cholesterol is 190. Your point about changing lifestyle is a good one and is really impressive. I am not overweight at all. My BF is prob around 10...but im trying to put size on now, Im 198. Things I can def. cut down are salt and some other things. I think the biggest single component is stress. Im in Finance and have been under more stress now han ever in my life. The whole idea of being on BP meds while on gear freaks me out. I would love more input especially from those who have had(have) high BP while on gear...Thanks guys.

I agree with the stress factor. I have not thought about it until you mentioned it, since I am in the gym and living more actively...I reckon my stress levels are WAY down.

I know I doing use gear, but there's 2 free bumps. Good luck ;)

MOLECULAR NUTRITION - LIPID STABIL

Take this for a month and have test done again.

Good Answer!

I have and am using it now - I have notice a huge improvement in the way i feel, now to chime in with some old school advice, In addition to the above, You really need to do some cardio, supplement Taurine, and drink lots of water, Adding Lipid Stabil should Provide a huge increase in your well being, as i am noticing this now while making cardio a breeze, You will not only keep an elevated metabolism thruout the day, but burn fat while at the same time lowering your BP.

I will def. try that supp. It cant hurt. I guess the big question is do I do a mild cycle while my BP is at its current level. How much could it increase by and for how long?

I have taken a lowpressor (BP med) on all cycles. Its not a big deal. I only take it cause my BP can get a bit elevated when i get stressed or pissed. I have cleaned up my diet alot and am taking Niacin and lots of Omega-3's (fish oil) . Also started lots of cardio. My resting BP can vary from low 120's/low 60's to low 140's/80-ish. as long as it doesnt go over 140/78-80, i dont worry too much. I dont have BP history in my family so mine is pretty "me" specific.

Also I wouldt worry about the 138. but the 89 is definatley to high. If you are definatley going to use gear i would without a doubt either get on some supps that work or some mild BP meds.

I had same problem brother, thats why i have been clean well partly why i have been clean for over a year.. supps diet and cardio-- lower it natty while you still can, you do not want to be on bp meds that early on in life.. mine went from 140-145 over 90-95 to 125 0ver 82 just with diet alone in a matter of months.. I would hold off on gear till you get it under control...

I have high Bp taking meds for it from my dr. when on cycles it some times will go up to 180/96 then when off cycle it goes back down to 145/80.

Thx gentleman...I think this is a very important topic because many younger guys may never feel the need to check BP. You dont really know you have it. Especially if your gonna take gear its a must to at least know where you stand.

What Im struggling with now is whether or not to tell my doc. I know I would feel much better if I did. But Im worried that he will give the moral lecture and scare me off. The worst part about high BP is that if your in a job with very high stress...dieting alone may not be enough especilly if hypertension runs in your family. My doc was telling me he knows of marathon runners with next to no bodyfat who have high BP and have to be on meds. This is a tough decision bros.

I have a problem with a lot of these posts.

BEFORE you take any supplements or drugs to help blood pressure you should look at a few factors and discuss them with your physician.

1) How is my lifestyle? Am I eating clean enough? Am I doing enough cardiovascular exercise? How is my sodium intake? Do I smoke?
2) Am I taking any supplements or medications at this time, and if so, which?
3) Does my family have a history of hypertension?

Only after these questions are asked and answered and the necessary lifestyle and drug regimines have been changed should you even think about using anything.

I don't like how our medical system in the U.S. treats everything with a drug, when a more holistic approach is needed and will fix the ROOT of the problem, not just mask it with a drug.

I will get off my soapbox now.

As for the original poster, please answer the questions I outlined here, and then we can further evaluate your situation.

If he gives you the moral lecture, tell him that't simply not his job, and as an adult you made a conscious informed decision. If he still refuses or gives you a lot of crap for it, get a new doc.

All good points...I went ahead and ordered some Calcium, Potassium, and the Molecular Nutrition Lipid...Im torn about telling my doc I am going to do a cycle. He prescribed Chlorthalidone which is a dieuretic rather than the Lisinpril I was on. He said this will have little effect on my training. I feel like I should ask him if I would have a neg. reaction while taking that and the Sust/Deca.

It won't interfere at all.

My blood pressure have been very high for months now. I need to go see my doc as sometimes I will have chest pains. I believe last time I went it was 140/90. I am running a low dose test cycle (375mg per week) and I dont know if that plays a factor or not. Stress is always very high with my job and when I get pissed it seems to get worse. I have never had high bp before this last year or so, I will go get checked out and see about some meds.
