Happy, do you work for hushmail or something? No, I guess you don't. If you did, you would know that they DO in fact advertise with their service. I've seen numerous ads while waiting an eternity for their shitty password applet to load.

I don't give a rat's ass if they don't charge a fucking dime for their crappy service. The point is this: a lot of people have emails stored in their database that they cannot access, a database that is supposably "secure." Does this sound like security to you? Being unable to access your own information? I don't think so.

Its my understanding that Elitefitness uses hushmail's software version 1.6, NOT their servers. If I am incorrect perhaps George or Chris can correct me. Whatever you do guys, do not upgrade!

And, Norma, the new look is even crappier than the old and just as slow. I agree whole-heartedly.

Hushmail can kiss my ass. I don't care when I get my information back. I read their upgrade notice and they didn't mention anything about losing your information for any length of time.

everyday I sit here and program shit in java and deal with encyption on databases - your shit is secure and I can guarentee you that.

and yes, George can back it up, or you could see for yourself - when you are using elitemail, it sends you to a page with frames. if you look at the source, you will see that the frame with the mail is indeed on one of the hushmail servers.

and if you have seen ads, then cool - I never have other than for other hushmail services.

I sit and I watch tv and see ads for tide, but I don't feel like a tide customer.

I'm sitting here being rational and you are freaking out - calm down.

It comes down to this. All hushmail users were warned and advised to move their e-mail. If you weren't quick enough on the uptake to follow their advice, I guess you're not the brightest crayon in the box.

Only Non-paying customers temporarily lost the data. Paying customers have access to their stuff just fine.

I'm certainly a hushmail advocate. We all know it's obvious faults. But there are others that should be of more concern, going from blowfish (a crappy algorithm) to OpenPGP (an even crappier algorithm). Encryption only to other hushmail users is horrible, but not because of the reason you'd think. The reason it's a bad idea is this:

All data is stored on one farm of servers. Subject to subpeona (yes, even off-shore servers) and compliancy with federal law forces the company to also provide the master key pair....the master private key is used to generate All users keys.

But since OpenPGP is so crappy, it's doubtful the feds would need the key pair in the first place.

hotmail just upgarded their servers and noone had any problems
