BodyFat Formula?

Sup guys!

Im trying to figure out the formula for calculating bodyfat. I total forget how to do it.

Easy Example: If someone is 222lbs 30% bf how do you figure out how much weight he needs to lose in order for him to be 10%bf?

I always thought 1% BF = out to 3.5lbs but I think I am abit off.

Its been awhile since I even attempted figuring this out so I am abit slow in terms of remembering the forumla ;)

divide total weight by 100 = 1% body weight.

2.22 lbs = 1% for a cat who weighs the 222 lbs you specified.

3.5 lbs would be 1% for a 350 lb guy.

30% is obese. 10% is decent.

in order to figure out bf % (without calipers, or a dunk tank) you need to estimate how much lean mass you have. whatever's left is fat.

ok heres a chart we use pretty simple to follow not sure if its what ur looking for. u subtract ur neck from ur waist and get ur circumference value then follow over to ur height and theres ur body fat. def not accurate like a dunk tank but its a good ref to follow. http://www.usmc.mil/directiv.nsf/0dce83e13c9c8aa685256c0c0066c2e0/c24965ff4beafa6185256bcd004aeac1/$FILE/MCO%20P6100.12%20W%20CH%201.pdf

go to appendix I pages 115-118

For a male, anything less than 20% BF is considered healthy. About 15% is where you'll have a nice flat stomach and no love handles. Around 10% your abs will start to show. For a 6-pack you have to get below 10%.

or you could just take the wieght 222 times .3 For all % move the decimal to the left two places 30.00% equals .3%

222 pounds at 30% = 66.6 pounds of fat
if you want to find what he would be at 10% take 30% - 10% equals 20% needed to lose
so take 222 times .2 = 44.4 pounds of fat need to lose

he would be 177.6 pounds @ 10%

im pretty sure i did that right im not the best at math but it seems logical to me

222lbs at 30% BF is indeed 66.6lb of fat. This leaves a lean body mass of 155.4lb.

Assuming you maintain the identical lean body mass and end up at 10% BF (not really a good assumption) then you would take 155.4lb and divide by 0.9.

That gives 172.7lbs as the final weight.

However, if you just started dieting to lose the fat, you would lose muscle mass along with the fat and end up lower than 173lb before you were 10% BF.

On the other hand, someone who has not exercised regularly in a while (a good likelyhood at 30% BF) can lose body fat and increase muscle mass at the same time if they start a vigorous workout program (resistance training and cardio). This person will acheive 10% BF sooner and at a body weight higher than 173lb.

For me personally to go from 26% BF to 10% took about 2 years.

I'm sure it could be done quicker but I had a lot to learn along the way.

Wow
Naturally, Or with the help of tren\winny\ECA\Clen\T3??

As most have mentioned you will most likely lose lean body mass while losing fat. Its just the way it is.

I went from 26% to 18% naturally, then dropped down to 10% with the help of lean mass cycles using primarily test, deca, and winny.

Godd Post! When losing fat you can put on muscle as well. Losing a certain amount of weight shoudn't be the goal. The goal is to lose fat and build as much muscle as you can!

i dont totally agree with this. i think 20% is Way too much.
i stay well under 10 year round, and my abs dont start to show till i'm around 5%. i am usually around 7% when off and 5% when on
