Bodybuilding and developing an ego...Opinions?

You're either one of those people that worries about other people calling you arrogant or you are not. Performing some kind of physical activity isn't going to change that.

Downs Gym....! :(

Hi,
Been a long time since i last posted here just popped in to have a look any way...

I think the better you look and the bigger you are you become more confident when i started i was about 10 stone (140lbs) and i had fuck all confidence and was very shy.

Now im about 14 stone about 196lbs in 4 years and have become alot more confident about myself and the way i look this may have also come with age as im 23 now 19 then but i dont think you become a arrogant pig. your confidence may be confused with this by people who envy you or hate you generally fat or skinny people...!

On a off subject My gym has closed down here in the UK (Bristol) alot of the UK pros used to train there in the 80's when it was all good but the manager who has been running it every day for the last 20 years decided to retire and i have lost my gym.

Now i have to train with skinny or fat people with no real goals and it pisses me off..!

anyway good luck and i only have one thing to say to you lad

FUCK everyone else you only have yourself to please if your huge and people look at you its normally for several reasons most are envy or respect that you busted your arse to get it..!

Definitley makes me cocky as hell

Often I'll practice poses in the gym after a set and people think I'm so arogant. But I don't give a shit b/c I'm bigger and shredded than all of them.
Being big is the shit.

If you got it, show it........thats how i look at it; as far as other dudes talking shit, its only because they feel insecure about themselves when a bro with a developed body is around them

kinda like when you have a drop dead gorgeous girl present around whole bunch of average chicks, all the average chicks will start talking shit about the good looking chick

That's it exactly. My girl used to be one of those girls who talked about the hot chicks, and as she became involved in fitness and the "lifestyle" she now has the confindence to be on of those girls instead of the ones talking behind their backs.

In fact, she can now appreciate the hard work that goes into a body like that and has the nerve to compliment them on it. There is nothing hotter than a hot chick that recognizes another hot chick when they see one! Did I say hot too many times in one sentence?

Same goes for the fellas.

i think if anyone excels in a sport he gets a bit of a ego i mean i knwo this one kid whos 20 years old 5'7 130 pounds yet he plays football with a bunch of friends on sundays and he dominates that small meaningless game yet he talks about football every 3 seconds and thinks hes the shit. hell you put him in a real hgih school football game and hed be thrown aroudn like a peace of straw

I think beign arogant is only a problem when you cant back it up .

Body Building feeds the "will to power" in all males. We all want to fuck the hottest girls, rule the world, and be judges of all we see. That is our will to power- to be above everyone and everything. I think Body Builders are above and beyond the heard mentality, and if they chose to have more confidence in themselves than the rest of the "sheepeople" out there, that is fine with me. Confidence should not be confused with arrogance. An arrogant man fails to see his own short comings and, in the end, is a victim of his own will to power.

There is a pretty fine line between confidence and cockyness, sometimes I cross that line. But only slightly more than I did before bodybuilding.

If you become arrogant through becoming a bodybuilder, then there are some major insecurity flaws in your personality already.

Confidence and arrogance should never be confused, and they are two totally different things
