Body Fat Scales

I'm considering in purchasing a body fat scale. Maybe one of the Tanita Body Fat Scales.

How do they work?
Tanita's patented "foot pad" design sends a low, safe electrical current through the body to measure its composition. The electrical current passes more easily through lean muscle than fat. Body composition is calculated mathematically, based upon the speed at which the signal passes through the body.

Modeled after monitors Tanita developed for the medical and fitness industries in 1992, the TBF-511 and TBF-515 use the same revolutionary method of measuring bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) that give you a fast, easy, less intrusive, safe, and accurate way of measuring your body fat.

As simple and easy as stepping on a traditional scale, it gives you an accurate reading of both weight and body fat within 30 seconds.

They price ranges from 59-89 on the models. Would these scales be good to get?

I've had one for a few years now, can't remember which model though. Its good for telling me my weight, but BF...WAY off. Maybe just for me I dont know, but its like double what I really am.

I've got an Omron handheld analyzer, and while I agree it's not very accurate, it is consistent. I can get the same readings first thing in the morning all the time. So I keep an average of the last 10 readings, and if I'm averaging up or down in mass or bf, at least I have some guide on my progress.

Yes I will agree that it is very consistant, but its just way off. I guess you could keep track of if your gaining or losing BF but, just don't worry about the number itself if you get what i mean ;)
