I would like to hear some opinions on the M5. This will probably be my next automotive purchase and I would like to hear some feedback. Thanks

Go test drive one and see if you like it. No need to question the quality of BMW and the M5 is worth it's buck.

Yes, and I would like opinions on Bentley's, as I expect to purchase one within a month or two.

Dude.... 390hp, V8?
Sub 5second 0-60
Less than 15 seconds in the Quarter mile... heh

I see no flaws in it, except for the $70,000 price tag. :D

BTW... i think the M3 is a better purchase.... still 300+ hp, but a smaller engine with its v6 and 3.4 liter as oppose to 5, but about $25,000 less.
More compact, and you still get lots of power. :)

If you got money to spend... get the Bentley GT... V12, 500+ hp. :D

The M5 is regarded in automotive circles as the best 4 door sports sedan in world. That should speak for itself.

The M5 seems like the ultimate sports sedan. I test drove the M5 and I must say that I was very impressed. I am trying to decide between the M5 and Audi S8.

Translation... "I'm trying to decide whether to buy an Escort or X-terra"

If you're thinking Audi, then you're speaking my language. I would forget the S8 and try for an RS6. It's a direct competitor to the M5 as far as price and performance. Problem is they are very rare in the states. I think you'll find a better overall driving experience in the RS6 over an M5, but the M5 looks a little better in my opinion.

Thanks for the links Freakmonster and Bigguns. Audiworld.com is a great forum. Why the hostility, Citruscide?

RS6 was a huge move by Audi... absolutely gorgeous car. As for the M5... my best friend's dad has a 2002, I've gotten to driven it a couple times... absolutely amazing car. Handling is incredible, acceleration is amazingly quick, but the car makes it feel like you're in complete control. The thing is a joke on the highway... passes other BMWs and Benzs like they're parked. And if cool gimics are your thing, you're set too. Proximity detectors, decked out Bose stereo, intense Xeon lights... pretty much anything you could ask for

You can't beat the M5 - I have one. I replaced my 540i, 6spd for a 2001 M5. Not alot on the road that can take its all around performance capabilities.

Wait for the Mercedes E55, I just seen that bad mofo on road and track, has like 15 inch wide tires, 525 h.p. and will smoke them bad boys for an eighth mile.

the car is also the size of city block

My buddy's dad is trading the M5 for the new E55, which i think it offensive. The E55 may be a tiny bit faster now, but the M5 looks way nicer, plus who drives automatic?

Actually the Mercedes Maybach is as long as a city block, but it is fast as hell also.

I see what you are saying about the automatic, but I have drova a manual since I have gotten my license, and now is the time to stop cussing my clutch while I am in traffic.

S8?

You must live in Europe then. M5's aren't that expensive there. If i were to get an M3 or M5 i would buy it in europe and send it here. Would still cost less.

you live an 8 hour drive from canada... why would you bother buying a car from a country across the ocean?

the only time you'd do that is if you needed to buy a car unavailable in North America... like the coolest car ever, BMW M3 GT

here is my review on the M5:

it has a nice deep muscle car sounds
tons of torque down low
sweet looks and comforable 16 way sport seats
awesome handling for a 4000lb car (its no s2000)
very fast on the highway.....let me just tell you doing like 65ish dropping it in to 3rd and running through the gears until you hit about 150 take what seems like only seconds. it pulls really hard from anyway!! it rides good for a sport tuned type car. only bad thing is bad for..... NYC commute, snow, parking blocks, assholes who slam your door.

other than that 6-speed 4 doors how can you beat it? btw.... the amg e55 is faster than an M5 off the line. don't ask me about up top i don't know i would imagine the M5 has hp advantage up top

oh one more thing.....the RS6 is a biturbo 4.2 V8 the.....the M5 is naturally aspirated..... if you have someone who is willing to spend 90,000 for the rs6 then spend 10,000 and put a blower on your M5 watch it go to 500hp

Actually, the Maybach is its own brand, owned by DC. And they have two models, the 57 and the 62. The 62 is about a foot longer than the Excursion.

yeah and watch it blow up, with an engine that advanced (11:1 compression) it wouldn't take kindly to forced induced. granted i don't know much about bmw's, but i can't think of too many blown beemers
