Blood Test Results. Advice needed!

Toogood

New member
Here are my blood test results from last year and this year.
My doctor said she was concern because my ALT was significantly higher than what it was last year. Even though my AST is lower this year.

Her first concern was about my BUN and Creatinine levels. But we discussed why those two were increased. It is more than likely contributed to my muscle mass and the fact that I had a killer leg workout the night before getting my bloods drawn which can increase the BUN pretty significantly.

I was also dehydrated before they took the blood.

She wants me to come back in two weeks and to not workout two days prior to another blood draw just to make sure everything is fine.
What do you guys think? Liver values pretty high? Any reason why?

Also I have only done one cycle of just 250mg test about two years ago.

Fasting is only really needed when they are testing for blood suger levels so unless they specifically ask you to fast dont worry about it.

Common pain meds can also raise liver enzymes as well as niacin so if you are taking any vit B supplements that may influence it as well. Often times you will be asked to abstain from sex for 48 hours prior to blood draw as well since orgasm can have an effect also.

Well by me not fasting wouldn't it skew the results?
She wants me to come in two weeks. To damn long lol

i agree with ziggie.

they tell you to fast for the glucose test but i just ignore it .. before they draw blood they ask you if you've fasted, i just tell them yes.

you bring up a good point though which is why i don't get my bloods done through a doctor, i get them done anonymously. the doctor looks at them for 20 seconds and then will write you a bunch of Rx's you don't need out of ignorance without even understanding your situation.

bodybuilders and lifters are not normal joe's.. we don't look like normal joe's, we don't have the bodies, etc. so no idea why docs insist on thinking our bloodwork should be the same

I just did start taking Vit B 5 like a few days before the test now that I think about it..

But she did tell me to be fasted but hell if it won't make a difference ima slam down my normal breakfast.

I got recommended to take some NAC. Should I start it now or wait until I get the bloods taken a second time?
My levels do seem a bit high though even for a bodybuilder. What's interesting to me though is that my ALT is higher than last years but my AST is lower.. How does that even happen?

no idea bro.. i honestly have researched those values much cause I have never had those problems.. this doctor of yours needs to get her head out of her ass and answer these questions otherwise its pointless wasting money to go see her.

I completely agree Steve. I have been talking to all professors at school and they have pretty much said that they can be really elevated because of the prep I just got done with too. But I'm going to go back and get them done again just to see what's up and go from there.
I appreciate all the advice and feedback though!

Having been in the same boat as you, I can say disregard your doctor on your ALT. These are bad indicators of liver issues. Skeletal muscle damage(weight lifting) will skew the results. Sometimes extremely. I had an ALT reading in the 900's after a day where I went to the gym and did a leg work out, followed by 30 minutes cardio and a night of 5 eight minutes grappling matches. After not training for a week and retaking the results my ALT was in range again. Now I do not even go to the gym with in 3 days of a blood test.

Well I'll be damn... If mine was in the 900's I would fall through the floor lol.
That's very reassuring then no doubt. I had a hella intense quad workout then went and got my bloods the next day. So that should explain it hands down.

Fuck it, I'm about to start my cycle this week hopefully! Lol.

Just wanted to chime in, I got my blood results back and they showed elevated alt at 115! I haven't been to the doctor yet but I'm sure she's gonna flip and send me for further liver tests. So I've been researching and found that weight lifting can and will affect these numbers. So basically before I got the test I had ramped up my workout routine doing way more cardio than usual as well as hitting the weights harder. They also say to look at other liver indicators such at bilirubin and ggt which were both very normal. I'm sure that's what the cause of this was.

This is good information to know. Those levels were off for me too at one point.. not working out 3 days before is a great idea
