Blood on the bar

Bloody shins from deadlifts have stained a bar or two in the past. But today was my speed day for snatches along with front squats. Busted open a callous on my left hand and kept packing the wound with more chalk. Since there were only a few people in the gym I left a loaded bar on the platform till I was done doing curls. When I went back there were, as usual, two solid white chalk marks on the bar from where I was snatching earlier - and the left one had a nice 1" diameter red blotch on it from my hand.

Felt that much better leaving my mark.

But then I grabbed a towel and wiped down the bar.

Might I suggest the Elite Bors Blood on the Bar Society?

Unless you are using like fire or some other strong disinfectant to wipe down the bar that shit is nasty although I dig your intensity

Let me know what gym you workout in so I can avoid it! With all we know about all the diseases being transferred through blood these days do us all a favor and buy some band-aids!

aww you guys are being harsh. nothing wrong with leaving a little bit of blood behind, but not something to start a society over either.

every bar in every gym prolly has something nasty on it, how often to you see people wipe down bars?

If you think blood on the bar is sick, stand in the locker room sometime and watch how many guys walk out without washing their hands after peeing or taking a shit... think about it when you set down the bar and use hour hand to wipe the sweat out of your eyes!

the place i train at used to have a big hole in the wall where all the juicers would toss their used pins!

The reasons for working out at home just keep coming and coming. LOL

Bunch of pussies.

(just kidding - relax your sphincters)

Funny thing about gym equipment - comparitively the average dumbbell/barbell has more germs on it than a public urinal. And just wait till flu season!

Seriously though - everyone talks about being hardcore (i.e. puking after squats or (ahem) leg presses) but a little shin scrape or torn callous and everyone goes running? Try attending a strongman competition or powerlifting meet.

And no I am not a vampire. Hopefully a Lichen.

Without a doubt!

I have scars on my shins from deadlifting, and I love it so much Ive named each and every one of them! :D
I purposly buy white straps so that the blood stains stand out on them... it helps keep little people from bothering me. :twirl:

before i stopped doing deadlifts (yeah i know ill start doing em after the season ends) i would always wear my white sweatpants to prevent the cut up shins, but it wasnt enough, and id walk around the gym after deads looking like a WWII victim... blood stained pants and hands and the bar would get all nasty too and everyone looked at me like a freak

I'm just a little more careful with the deads now re: knees because I don't want to interfere with running. I just go down a little more careful.
