I don't think there is anything our group of people can do to fight the way the media covers this issue. All it takes is just a few tragic events to color the whole picture. I wish there were some way to get the media to paint a truer picture. Anyone have any ideas!!?? I suppose the whole thing will die down once the public tires of hearing about it.

Its kinda like the whole teen alcholics, smokers, drunk drivers, weeks smokers or what have you....its not longer than intresting to "the media", so they need a new fish to fry.

Exactly. Back in the late 70 and 80s they were attacking heavy metal music, blaming it on the suicide deaths of several teens. The media also attacked Dungeons and Dragons saying that it was satanic and lead to several deaths. Of course the defense won in all of these court cases. Every now and then the media likes to blame violence on tv and video games for the violent actions of a few teens. Now its time to move on to something new, steroids.

yea totally.....

Funny thing is the people who produced this program are possibly heavy drinkers & smokers and probably don't mind some coke thrown in....

I work in TV myself and I know how hard some of these TV producers live....

Very poor diets, no excercise, drink every night, smoke a pack/day..... ect....

yup, and gov. makes tons of cash off ciggs and alcohol, the media helps sell it to young people, the drug companys make money by having the docs push their drugs to sick people from the alcohol/cigg smokers... If gov/drug companies were making money off AAS, then they would say everyone needs them...

Fortunately this process is more peek and valley oriented than cyclical. By this I mean that currently steroids are a "hot" topic of conversation and providing the media with "great" stories to attract viewers. As some point in the near future (perhaps with the implementation of more stringent rules in the NFL and other pro sports) the "controvery" will receive all time high publicity. After a brief time in the "lime-light" it too will go by the wayside to other top stories and conflicts. Perhaps some of you vets will remember the attention steroids received in the late 80's, early 90's. Although not as pronounced as today....it still made newspapers and magazine articles. Hopefully all the "hoop-lah" about gear will subside with time. Who knows....apposing viewpoints may be raised and studies could be published illustrating the benefits and possible health advantages of gear. Let's keep our fingers crossed on that!

steroids are very tough psychologically on kids, but i think blaiming the steroids alone is not the right way around. The parents are the ones who did the biggest mistakes

Unfortunately steroids are illegal, and unless the majority of the country get educated and change laws, it will continue to be. The part that irritates me the most, is the amount of taxpayer money at waste dealing with this issue. Yes, it is an important issue; young kids/teens should not be abusing this or any other drugs. But there are more pressing issues in our country that need addressing (social security, jobs, rising cost of education, international relations, … etc.). It simply amazes me that people are not angrier with their congressmen and state reps for spending this much time on something far less important in the scheme of things.

Yeah when I was young a buddy comitted suicide adn they tried to blame Dungeons and Dragons. Stupid ass shit.
And remember when Ozzy and Judas Priest were on trial? God how dumb can the fucking general public be. On second thought, I don't wanna know.
