Bleh, who cares what age he is? I mean, if he's 17 and doing this then that's frigging idiotic, but that's also his choice to screw with his hormones while his body is still developing.
SO, here's my injection ritual:
I wash my hands thouroughly with an anti-bacterial soap in the hottest water I can stand twice.
Following that, I take a cotton swab, put some 91% alcohol on it and rub the vial top with it. I then take a different swab and clean the injection site a couple of times. By this time, the alcy has evaporated off of the top of the vial.
I then take my syringe out of the packaging, and draw 2x as much air into it as the amount of oil I'll be injecting. The vial is held upside down, all air injected into it, and then I start to draw out the fluid. Generally I'll draw a bit more out than I'll be shooting so that I can keep the syringe vertical and push the little bit of air still in the syringe back into the vial. This way there's effectively no air in the syringe at all.
The next step I take is to relax the muscle I'm about to shoot into as much as possible, and then just push the needle in fairly slowly. I've never jabbed, but that almost seems like it'd hurt more to me. When I inject I feel the initial "pinch" where it breaks the skin, then almost nothing, then another "pinch" when I'm breaking into the muscle. After that I can just keep going and it all feels the same.
After I'm in, I aspirate for a couple of seconds and if no blood enters the syringe then I start to push the oil in. Once that's done, I pull out the needle and I take a cotton swab with a bit of alcohol on it and push down hard on the injection site. Most of the time I'll massage the area with that swab for a bit, and then take a hot shower and massage it while in there.
I also try to work the muscle a bit right after the poke to spread the oil around some. With quads (which is pretty much the only place I shoot) I will do a bunch of walking lunges right afterward. Shoulders I'll do a few pushups and then take a couple dumbbells that I've got and do a couple sets of shoulder presses. (Nothing heavy, I've only got 2 25lb db's at my apt)
With Test E I feel almost nothing the first whole day, and then barely anything the second.
As *The Master* posted above it's all in your head. Just look at it logically; you're only afraid of the pain. I bet you'd be less nervous if you knew you were going to get hit in the nose, and that hurts a hell of a lot more.
