now I like alot of shit comin out of houston texas. The screw music, started by the late DJ screw who started the style in houston with his mix tapes. Screwed and chopped, slowed and throwed. Its going to be the next big thing in the rap industry. Folks are already breakin through from Big Moe to Lil Flip, South Park Mexican etc etc the movement has started and its goin to spread. It is popular throughout oklahoma,texas,louisiana, startin to pick up in alabama, arkansas and kansas. Once it spreads it gets into the local underground the next thing you know everybody is listening to it. It is one of the biggest underground rap movements and its spreadin like wildfire.
I don't know about the best, but one of the top freestylists has to be Lil flip. This cat can go and go. I'm also a big fan of Pall Wall & the Chamillion. Big Pokey, Archie Lee, scarface. Lots of good shit I could go on and on. I am sure most of you don't even know who they are, but check out the rap comin out of houston. I like SPM's rap alot but what can I say..... he is now doin over 50 years for molestin the kiddies now, and I got no sympathy for him, cause he was obviously one sick n twisted dimented mother fucker. All that money, and he still wanted to fuck children and underage groupies like R Kelly. Fuck him.
Yeah, I like some southren rap like SPM and the Big Tymers. Hey DirtyDogman do you know who NBK is?
Also the beats are almost more important than the lyrics and the artists. I mean come on.... some of the biggest hits are completely bullshit when it comes to the lyrics and the artists. What it ammounts to is the voice just bein an extra sound to the music where folks don't even give a fuck whats bein said they just groovin and movin. Thats what makes Dr Dre one of the best, cause he is the best if not one of the best producers in the rap game.
Other favorites of mine are dj quick, nate dogg, too short, playa hamm, eazy e, warren g, ice cube, snoop,, shit there is too many to even list. Probably my all time favorite cd is UGK Ridin Dirty. Got to be one of the best ever put out, I can listen to every track on the cd without skippin over anything.
Right on it's about someone here brought up some westcoast rappers like Too Short who made great rap albums.

you people don,t no shit about rap. the real rap is freestyle rap and that started out in nyc. i still say big daddy kane is the king he,ll dis and put anyone to shame because that's what rap was all about in the old days it's about battling not this comercial bull shit we hear today. so go back and do your homework

Why is it that all you people seem to be comparing the all time greats with some freak who has had 1 or 2 albums out..
Sure eminem, DMX and a few other late 90's stars can rap but as far as being the best of all time......pleazzzzzee!!!!
Come back when you know what the fuck you are talking about. go listen to the music that made them........listen to some earlier shit too.......
Im not saying they r bad, far from it, but listen to some classics like old skool snoop and dre (the first cronic album, doggystyle), Ice-t (original gangster-one of the best albums ever!), public enemey(any album...apart from he got game!), eric b & rakim, de la soul (3 feet high & rising),Easy-E(straight off the streeets...), Bone thugs 'n' harmony (E.1999 eternal) das efx (hold it down), house of pain (fine malt lyrics), LL cool J, NWA( straight outta compton), some of jazzy jeff & the fresh prince's old stuff (summertime was a classic!), KRS 1, busta rhymes, Ice cube (the predator, leathal injection), WC (the shadiest one), mack 10, RUN DMC, Coolio, the fugees (the score was a musical master piece).
Also some newer guys have some good shit to hear
Xibit (at the speed of light), DMX, M.O.P, Ja rule on j-lo's album is funky, Fat joe.......hopefully some more soon....
