did anyone else notice Tupac's questionable transition from his Digital Underground days to his Thug Life days?

him and Biggie were good rappers in their respectable fields but they weren't THAT amazing with their wordplay.

I knew this would come up. rappers like eminem, notorious, jay-z, ja rule.....are popular, but no way can be considered the best of all time! Each have'nt done much for hip hop. Eminem has made it more hated by critics and brought everything he does into the charts...both him, jay-z and ja rule are huge sell outs.
Why do i say this? They all started to make hardcore rap...aimed at hardcore fans and then knowing that they aint selling enough records to stay down with the hardcore....go pop.....that is selling out! Rap has always been about 'keeping it real' and doing what they have done exlcudes them from the elite rappers because the are now pop stars.

BIG was not the best of all time. His lyrics were mumbled and weak, not much at all....To comapre him to Guru, ice-t, cube, chuck, rakim or dre is bullshit.

Yeah krs 1 is good, but still...best of all time....i dont think so.

Ice cube has some awesome tracks...been around ages too. hes class and has some funky beats aswell!

nobody ever decides if they wanna go pop or not, the fans decide.

For me a good mc is someone who is witty, can flip words around, tell stories and most importantly be able to hold their own in a head-to-head FREESTLE MC battle.

I look at skill and lasting factor to guage who is best of all time. Not how MTV/MuchMusic/BET portrays these people.

The only person who you could consider the best rapper of all-time BEHIND Big, is Rakim. The rest you have to be kiddin me with. I mean they're alright but not even in the same league as BIG.
