Best method of gaining mass?

raze

New member
Have you guys found when lifting heavy weights that is it better to carry out the full motion of the exercise for eg when benching to bring the bar all the way down to ur chest and all the way back up, or using a HEAVIER weight and staying in your "strongest range" (usually your last few inches of your reach). If any of the guys would be kind enough to give us an idea of a program that has worked for them would be much appreciated!

Depends whether you're training for mass or training your ego. A full ROM bench will train your pecs, shoulders, lats, triceps and a whole load of other smaller muscles in the upper body. The last few inches are going to train your triceps. Which do you think's going to build more mass?

Lower the weight and do full range of motion. There's a bench thread sticky in the PL forum.

5x5 works very well when used heavy-light-medium style as far as the weights used are concerned.

10x3 works very well.

Lifting explosively.

Heavy eccentric work.

Probably best...

Lot's of food and sleep.

OH...and SQUATS and DEADLIFTS... :chomp:
