Best diet for optimum testosterone?

Mr. Black

New member
I know this belongs on the diet board, and I posted it there as well, but i think it pertains to this forum also. I've come across various theories concerning diet and its effects on testosterone. However, there are discrepancies and I am curious as to what exactly is the general consenus on maximizing testosterone via one's diet? Any ideas of the breakdown or success stories?

Eat Plenty of Tribulus :)

iron??? doesnt it accumulate in your system though? i mean hell when i went to class i could swear that i heard that iron accumulates in your system and rusts causing oxidants... kinda not a good thing now is it?

i recall reading that a diet rich in mono/poly unsaturated fats increases test levels.

Wow (in response to the answers).

The answer in a nuttshell: in order to achieve the highest possible free testosterone level from your diet you need eat a large amount of animal based saturated fat. Studies have shown that anything less than 25% of your calories coming from fat will reduce the production of testosterone within 2 hours of eating such a meal. Going as high as 40% has been shown to show further increases in testoterone production and lowering of shbg levels. You also need to get a large amount of POLYunsaturated (not mono) fats in the form of n-3 and n-6 fats in order to properly process the cholesterol present in the higher saturated fat meals into the proper precursors for testosterone production. This will also tend to offset the negative effects of elevated cholesterol intake, by allowing the body to untilize it for a productive purpose. By focusing on additional n-3 fats, you should also see a increase in AR senstivity, allowing better utilization of the testosterone you are producing.

You're welcome Mr. Black. It would have been a better answer without all of the typos I have it in. LoL

A little illustration of what BBF is talking about:

This may seem like a silly question but what are some good sources of different fats? Steaks for animal based (anything else here?)Also, what are some examples of polyunsaturated fats?

Any meat will do, as well as dairy products and eggs for saturated fat. For n-3 fats flax seed oil is your best choice. Cold water fish (salmon being your best choice, if its fresh catch, not farmed) and walnutts are good choices as well. n-6 fats, you are probably eating more than you need without even knowing it.
