bench question

Sub-Zero

High End Bro

i have a question with my bench...

in all my other lifts i feel it where im supposed to, but when i bench, i just DONT feel it in my chests.

i dont even feel my chests working at all, and i even try to "emphasise" its use and everyone who i ask says my form is fine...

i got a suggestion from a friend to lower the weight; could this be the answer to my question?

help is greatly appreciated, thanks guys

Are you keeping your shoulders back?
How wide is your grip?
How many reps and sets do you do?
Are your elbows in or out?
What else do you do for chest?

Cheers,

lol... im gunna go find some bench videos

Are you keeping your shoulders back?i tried to and it didnt make a difference

How wide is your grip? wider than not, hard to explain... some people say thumb widths from the grip, but i go over a little more and have my pinkeys just barely touching the small space between the two gripps

How many reps and sets do you do? 12, 10, 8, 6
Are your elbows in or out? probably more out than in
What else do you do for chest?i do bench first but i also do flys dips and inclines

Hey, are you neww to lifitng, or benching?

may sound dumb but I was the exact same way when I started. Couldnt feel a damn thing. I used to joke and say my chest was so shitty I didn't actually have any muscles.. after a while though, you'll start to feel it. Trust me, just keep sticking with proper form.

And if you're not new to lifting then...well disregard what I just said haha

Otherwise, try dumbells. I find it easier to focus on getting a good stretch in the chest

new to lifting...guess ill be waiting a while before i complain again then ;)

thanks alot for your help man :)

How strong are your triceps? If they are comparatively "weak" compared to your chest then your triceps are taking the brunt of the bench exercise instead of the pecs.

Do your arms feel wasted after benching?

If you can keep you shoulders all the way back throughout all you reps it should help transition onto your pecs is why I asked. The gaps are commonly called rings just so you know if someone asks if you put your hands on the rings. I put my middle finger on the rings when I press.

Also try slowing your reps down and make sure you don't bounce or pop the weight off your chest make it a nice smooth motion. This will force more pressure on the pecs. Lastly try dropping the 12 rep set and adding a four rep set.
