Bench ? - Is 245 alot?

I am 5' 8', I now weigh 170 after 3.5 weeks of Primo Only. I have added 20 lbs to my max on bench. What should I be benching at my stats? How much will I be benching at the end of my cycle? I put on 7 lbs in 3.5 weeks. This seems really strange. I heard I would only gain 7-10lbs from primo only. I am doing primo 400Mg per week. Any ideas . . .

well, all you can do is compare yourself to others.

me, i am 5'8" and 160. last i maxed on bench was 270 that was about 6 or 7 weeks ago. my goal was to hit 300 by the end of the semester, but i think it'll be a bit above that 'cause of my first cycle.

fuckin funny,..,..

the color question....

who cares how much you can bench...its what you look like...if i was ronnie and benched 115lbs i'd be happy

ur question could have alot of answers the way u worded it. i can tell u that i'm 5'9 185 8-10% and maxed at 375 while on and 330 two months later not on anything. as far as repping 275-5, so no 245 is not alot. but we have no clue whether ur bf% is 10 or 25 so it would be almost impossible to give u an accurate answer. 245 isn't bad for someone who is 40 with 15% bf but someone like me who is 23 it's not really very impressive. honestly, i don't even care what my max bench is, it's just a #. i only do bells now. when people brag about their max bench whether it's higher or lower than mine, i just laugh and think what a dumbass. if ur worried about ur bench u need to reevaluate why ur in the gym in my opinion.i think the bros would be better able to help u if u gave us AGE, TIME LIFTED, BF%, ECT. just by .02, BIGGA

how much do you bench for reps?

as for your cycle results, be happy that you're gaining as well as you are off it. A lot of people would love to put on 7lbs in 3.5 weeks of primo only.

Sorry, but I have to call bullshit on this idea. BULLSHIT! BULLSHIT! BULLSHIT! If thats all you want, get implats like a woman. I'd rather look like Bruce Lee and kick the shit out of your Ronnie clone looking 115 lb bench pressin' ass. :D

Well listen bud the best thing that i did to increase my bench and all my core lifts was...i am a fball player at wcsu and i did 4 sets of 10 reps as of today i can do 250 for ten my max is 350 i would recomened doing that but do chest at least twice a week..keep going though your on the right track

this thread sucks cock

I saw a guy just last week who said he weighed 130 lbs. bench 285. The only problem was his lower back was so far off the bench you could have slid soccer ball under it. So was he actually pressing 285?, I think we all know it can be scewered(sp?) badly.

So long as his ass was on the bench it is a legal lift. Most competition benches are done like this.

You say you don't brag about your bench, it sounds to me like you're bragging. BamBam

I have to disagree with you about the age thing. Most of the top benchers in the world, I'm talking about the fellas that have broken the 700+ mark, are in their 30's.
This also applies to Worlds Strongest Men competitors.
I am 38 and my bench press is the strongest it's ever been, and I started weight training in my teens, so it's not like I'm a late bloomer.
Being in your early 20's is not an advantage in strength sports, and your strength will continue to increase well into your late thirties.

that's a good thing to know! haha, 'cause damn, wouldn't that suck if your strength started going down during your 30's....i'd imagine that would make you feel old fast. do you feel old genarr??? hehe :D

I hate when people brag about how much they bench. I always do weigh less weight than I am capable of maxing out with. I like to do the exercise slow and feel the muscle working. When I max out, all I feel is aninjury comming on

It's actually quite cool to hit a personal record when you have gray hairs coming in. I just hit one in the bench a couple of weeks ago, and plan on picking up a few bench trophies this summer. Well, that's the plan at least.

Well I am 20 and 205-210lbs. and bench around 345-355 depending on the day. My friend who just took home a few trophies from the NPC Western USA Natural does 280 and is only 145Lbs.

Gettin my fina saturday and should be around 375 in a short while, big deal I actually dislike Flat Bench. I am so far all natural. Won't be on monday!!

Well my previous best was 410lbs at 198 in a bench meet, so it was a clean lift. This was also a long time ago and I was all natural at the time, but I was using a bench shirt.
Now I would be hard at 230 so I've put on a bit of muscle since then. I'm hoping to hit 500 with the help of a real good bench shirt. I figure it's possible because I did 405 for 4 just 3 weeks ago, that was my personal record I was talking about. I feel 405 x 4 is equal to something like a 450 bench, so a shirt and some steroids hopefully will put me in the 500 club. Hopefully is the key word here, it might also nail me to the bench.

Yo BOSS,
Bro i said i don't think max bench matters and i wasn't impressed with mine. How u got i was bragging out of that is beyond me. I take it u were being scarcastic with the 165lb comment. And i think that's great that ur second set is 365 for 8. I'm well aware that some people that weigh the same as i can bench over 500lbs. And i hope that when i get in as many cycles as u that i can do 365 for 4.lol

UUggghhhh! I would probrably shoot myself.

Well if your a powerlifter that would be a shitty bench but if your a bodybuilder it does't matter that much and 245lbs. for your bw is deicent. Besides I know a guy that is about 220lbs. lean and only does 315lbs. but he is swole and into bb so it doesn't matter that much. I will say though even though I'm in it for the looks, moving more weight and setting new records still feels great.

I believe peak strength for one rep occurs somewhere in a guys 40's-50's. I can't remember where I learned that but more than once I've heard it.

Holy Sh@t what a response! Re: Bench ? - Is 245 alot?

You guys take your posts seriously. I was looking for some help and started a holy war. I am not trying to "boast" about my max. I know it is not a lot. I have been lifting for 10 months and was wondering what would be a good place for me to be. I have a 28" inch waist before juice and have gone to a 29" waist in my weight gain. I have lost most of my six pack and hope to get it back after lean out stage. Just looking for some tips.

Just FYI, the world record bench press for the 165-pound division if 564 and the 181 class is 600 even. The best of the best.

You want to be a strongman do your flat benching.....

You want to be a bodybuilder get on the incline bench.....

Chances are most guys would have a hard time doing just half the amount on a incline that they do on a flat bench.

Well im 5'7 185 and finished my second cycle of a test and my bench went from 335x3 to 405x3 between my two cycles my bench only dropped 10 pounds

bench

i've done 405 before i ever did a cycle. my bodyweight was 220, with 14% bodyfat. some people are just strong at certain lifts. if your goal is to look good, who cares what you bench? if you're a powerlifter, well.....you're gonna lose a lot of contests

I would kill myself if I could only bench 115lbs.

rofl...you wanna laugh?

some dude in my gym got stuck under 95 pounds the other day. the place was kinda empty so i had to run over and give him a hand. god i felt so bad for him. he definetly went home and killed himself.

Benching 75lbs above your body weight really is not that much...

jstrong20 said:

It is if you weigh 500lbs.:D

LOL...I didn't think of it like that...:)

this is my rule of thumb

if you can bench twice your weight you have some good strength. I am not saying that i am really strong but I have some strength I can always bench a little more than twice my weight, but the pro lifters bench alot more than twice their weight.

therefore I consider 2xbody weight to be the threshold of wether you are strong or not on the bench

45 lbs above your weight aint great or anything but you have less than a year of trainig ..keep it up and you'll be hitting more and more soon enough..

I don't agree with this age mess you have some to learn my friend, I've also been training since my teens and at big 40 and at 5'6 220 10-12% 405 lbs for 3-4 would not be uncommon (while on) anyone can take it as bragging or lying no sweat off me just wanted to make my point about age I'm just as strong as I was at 30 and alot stronger than I ever was in my 20 s . Now on the first question 245 lb bench is it very much, you haven't given us enough info on how long you have been working out or you% bf and even then no way to compare because everyone is different I've seen a 170 lb bro at a liftathone bench 385 like it was nothing so strenth can be under est in some cases by ones weight.
