New member
I've been trying to find a job now for about almost a year! :worried: I still got no lucks, I been sending my resume everyday. I believe I have sent about 300 resumes. This sucks! Grrr!

That does suck

your looks not getting you anywhere??? odd.

what are your skills, occupation?

yah must be my looks... lol

I have management experience ( 3 yrs)
retail ( more than 3 yrs)
cash handling ( 5 yrs)

plus I have degree pharmacy.

What job are you looking for?
Have you been getting calls in response to your resume?
Going to interviews?
Are you answering ads or just sending out blind requests for employment?

I have to admit - a year without finding a job sends a red flag out to me and you may have to change your resume and perhaps your approach.

It's never taken me more than 2 weeks to find a job in nearly *gulp* - 20 years.

I've been job hunting myself, but only for a week and a half. What area do you live in foxxie?

I can't believe someone can't fine "A" job for a whole year. What job do you want, the Presidency?

That's about to be vacant, but you still have a 2 years for that one...

I guess my problem is I need to go out more and apply in person than sending my resume online. I know it would look better when applying on person than just sending your resume via online.

yea like what are your skills?

i mean like numb chuck skills? are you good with a bowstaff?

sorry napolean dyn..lol

Have you had your resume reviewed for errors?

yeah, you should hand resumes in, in person, whenever possible. Ask every friend you have to keep an eye out for openings for you. When you hand in a resume, follow up every few days.

gjohnson5 said:
A resume is not required to get "A" job. You could have worked in sales wherall you need is to fill out an application. Yeah the pay is not great but it's better then nothing.
ayeap, my point of view as well. I am tired of hearing people that they cant find a job. Bullshit. They are just picky and are looking for something in particular. If I wanted to find a job, I wpuld get it very fast, McDonalds always has a free spot to fill in ;) Well, you know what I mean

it could have been GraveDigger and i still wouldn't of figured it out.
(btw - GraveDigger is a monster truck. so i'm saying your ass is wider than a monster truck. just so that you're not confused because of you being foreign and all and not understanding american pop culture.)

BOR-ING. you story grows tiresome...someone please say something interesting besides Ali Baba & her new age camel.....

Apparently you are doing something wrong, are looking for jobs you are VERY unqualified for or your approach is wrong.

Like Velv asked - do you gets calls? Interviews?

What kinds of jobs are you applying for?

There is no runing away from me. I can find you and drag you out of that Coloseum place you been hanging out at
i don't go to places like that. i hope you wouldn't either, but with the fucking moronic company you keep, it wouldn't suprise me.

Go in person, only the MySpace generation will do everything online. Take something lower if necessary. Go strip/gogo, at least you dont have kids...

I did got an offer once but as an " Idiot", I didn't take the job because the job location is pretty ghetto.

I should have taken it but yeah I think my problem is I am very picky ( I know I should have taken the first offer is better than nothing). Of course I apply on a position that I have experience with or qualify for.

McDonalds? BurgerKing? Sonic? chick... if you need work go for it.

Being "qualified" is in the eyes of the employer. If you think you are "qualified" and you have not been getting answers back , this could mean that your idea of "being qualified" is not correct. It could also mean that you resume does not contain the proper keywords to indicate that you are "qualified"

Make sure that your resule lists all the skills that you posses. Most employment agencies use keywords to search ones resume. So start rewriting your resume and make sure it contains all the skills the employer in the job requirement is asking for

I have review my resume so many times. I even have to ask my friends and family to review it. They said is pretty good! I dont know maybe I am just applying for a position that everyone is applying with. *shrugs* This is my first time ever on my life that I have a hard time looking for job. Usually I got call right away . Maybe is just the location ahhh ..who knows.

I hope the grammer on your resume' is better than this post....lol :p

How are you paying bills?

How long can a person draw unemployment ?

It's ok to be picky if you are looking for a specific job, but if you need to pay bills, being picky is self-defeating.

Sending out resumes and "pounding the pavement" are all good if you want any job or there is a small chance you will get lucky this way (small chance). The best way to find your dream job or a good job is to network. Make contacts. Go to the happy hrs after work near a large company and get to know the ppl. Ask friends if they have friends who work for good companies.
Networking is really the best way to get a great job.
Employers would rather hire folks with references than people from the street or resumes from the net.
Network, network, network!

Good luck and don't give up

My husband works! I dont need to work but I feel bad for him so I wanted to help out. Beside I dont want to be just a house wife that's sooo boring, it was fun at first but in the long run it gets boring.

You are right! I have been sending my resume online most of the time. What I really need to do is go apply in person.

Yes networking is the best way to go! Unfortunately I dont have any friends on where I live. I can't work for my husband company because his job position requires lifting, etc that men only can handle. Or so he says.. lol

I have difficulty believing that you have a degree in pharmacy yet you have ZERO experience in that field.

From what I understand it is difficult to obtain a pharmacy degree. How on earth could you have made it through such difficult schooling and then suddenly decided that you want to be "a housewife"? Do you even have kids?

I am not passing judgement just dont see the logic in your posts as they are so inconsistent.

You claim to have a degree that requires a great deal of mental prowess yet your grammar leaves quite a lot to be desired to say the least.

And when people ask what type of job you are looking for and list the type of experience you have, you post up very broad terms that could be applied to having worked at The Gap.

Moving from places to places is one of the reason why I dont have stable job. This is because of my husband

I have known professionals who can't even speak english well. A lot of them works on a medical field. I know this because I had work in a hospital before ..

However I would admit I need a bit of improvement on my english grammar. Knowing three different langaunge is not easy...

Well the last I saw you post was that you DIDN'T NEED TO WORK... right.

so whats the issue?

If you really want to keep yourself busy then pull down a part time job somewhere until the next location.

My lawn needs to be mowed

That's right I dont need to work but I want to work. So I can help my husband out.

There's no issue at all I just feel bad for my husband. That's all! Beside I am not really use on not working at all for fact I've been working since I was 16.

I want to have a stable job and I dont think mowing someone lawn is not stable job at all. lol

well sweet tuts.. ya know what, when I was out of work and needed to not only occupy my time to keep busy, but also to bring in extra cash I stooped to the pt of my own business cleaning homes. I did what I had to do to bring it in. At that time I was waiting for a seat to attend school and was bored out of my mind.

You do what you got to do.

Sorry....

I call bullshit.

English is NOT my mother tongue. I was schooled in a third and did so well that I was exempt from finals and was "forced" (though gladly) to learn a fourth when I lived in that country.

Your husband in the military?

If you feel so bad that your husband is the only one to bring in an income then you can easily get a job watching other people's children for few hours a day several days per week. Those people have stable jobs so you would have a stable job.

If you want to work badly enough you can find a job.

See now if you dont WANT to work, that is another issue altogether.

YOur smart then and let just say I am Dumb. I dont think I am but if that's the way you perceived that I am then I can't do anything about that.

I have been Sending my resume and applying everywhere I could. Well exemption of I guess working in a fast food or working in a clothing store.

My husband is not in the military...

Then how is it that he moves around quite a bit yet can hold down a stable job?

It isn't about who is smarter. I just fail to understand how someone can be bright enough to know three languages, have a degree in Pharmacy and not have any experience in that line of work.

I never finished college. Only put myself through two years and quit to get married so I am a bonified dumbass.... period.

lol weird How I am bitching about not having call

Well I just got an interview set up tomorrow..... Wish me luck!!! :)

LOL

Frisky you reminded me of a local saying:

"over here, your either own the lawn or you cut the lawn"

Maybe it's a local thing but it's funny and sad all at the same time.

agreed.
sending out a poorly written resume to companies that weren't looking for help and not giving them a clearly defined description of what you want to do is an obvious attempt to NOT get a job.
She lives in or near a LARGE city.... she could work if she wanted to.

I got an interview as Executive Assistant tomorrow so wish me luck

Any advise what to wear I am thinking of something like this

http://www.forever21.com/product.as...y_name=Outerwear&product_id=2028737727&Page=2
