Being BIG or being skilled???

I agree there, but most people who have recieved training tend to go out of their way to avoid trouble, for example,if myself or my buddy(north american pankration champ) get bumped into by someone in a bar we will say sorry even though it wasnt our fault, and ive even bought someone a drink because I saw he was visably annoyed and ready to rock. had he brought it I woulda have fought back, but its little things you notice after spending a few years working in bars

Lol You guys are scareing me makeing me think every little "tough guy" is some FREAK MMA champion.... lol Now im frightened that I will get into a fight with someone like this

yah I know what you mean
sometimes when people say it is unlikey they will ever have to fight someone that has skill they are saying like it's like in the movies, where if you are a good fighter you'll take any level of shit to avoid hurting someone
and that's not true
you should if you are going to bein a fight, assume the other guy is dangerous until he proves otherwise, because you are only going to underestimate the wrong person once, and you'll have less then two seconds to figure it out when it happens

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

in a bar chances of fighting a skilled fighter are so slim you likely wont ever see it happen,I know in 2 years on the door I havent, the guys who can sort people out and are really trained are the guys sitting back shaking their head when the little punks get all hot headed and try and be tough with everyone

Very Very TRUE!!

Us little guys tend to start training, because we dont want to have to worry about guys bigger than us, and for me thats most people

I know what your saying, maybe its just the doorman in me but if I feel threatened I will eliminate that threat before buddy has a chance to flinch

Will strength come into play at all, we have all been talking about weight but what if one guy is benching 400 and the other 220??????

The only solution is for YOU to be that skilled/trained fighter. Then you won't have to worry

I'm workin on that
acquireing skill is tough tho
there is a lot of shit to keep track of in a fight

I have lurked this board for a while, but I just wanted to interject somethin' real quick.

If your a true trained fighter and you spend all your free time training, don't sweat the small stuff. Walk away from every street/bar fight possible, there's no money in it and who knows if the guy has a knife/gun.

Save your skills for when they are critically needed, or for a competition.

It would be a waste of your time to train year round, and get stabbed/shot in the chest because of some ego trip.

I have trained martial arts for years and I still carry a knife on me at all times. I also have many friends who are not into martial arts, who carry weapons on them. Getting into random fights is just not worth all the time you spent training for competition.
