i've been checking out egypitian cotton sheets for a christmas present for someone special.... :qt: :p

how high does the thread count have to be for the desired softness that this kind of material is known for?

300?

600??

1000?

1200????

WHAT??????

I have egyptian cotton sheets and can't remember for the life of me what the count was... what do do remember is what they cost... it was worth every penny.

ebay seems quite reasonable compared to overstock.com for internet buying.

you cant go wrong with a high thread count... the higher the better. with the egyptian cotton the higher will last longer and being they are so soft they can wear out faster than regular cotton sheets, like the kind your gramma has had in her closet since 1960...

300-500 is good but still practical- like cali said they will wear faster as the threads per inch go up

linensource.com has some deals too
i've ordered from overstock before depends on what they have

ps. don't use bleach use a linen wash and wash warm not hot

my parents only buy 600 - 800, but 400 is silky smooth for me. :)

Not sure, but I bought $150 pillows thinking AHHHH these will be great. Pffft, I hate them. The $12 are the same to me. I have trouble with pillows because of my wide shoulders and need the height when sleeping sideways. The pillows always sag and go flat. Damn my weight!

Minimum 500count. More likely 700+ is our choice. I love fresh linens. Smell me. Smell me! wtf? Not ME, the sheets!

very true; higher is nicer but they wear out faster. i take my to the laundry to get a nice clean ironing but they tend to wear out faster than if done at home. Don't have a mangler, though. Mom used to in the 'good ole days'. Sit downstairs, listen to the Twins Baseball games on the radio and iron those sheets!!

I got my eqypitian cotton sheets on ebay and the thread count was over 600, I want to say they are 750. You will be paying about a 1/3 less than retail. Keep in mind that the higher the thread count the better the quality. I just love mine!

I recently got navy blue 600 count king sized sheets for $14 at TJ Maxx. Target has some good thread counts too but a bad color selection in my opinion. I sear TJ Maxx is the place to go. They get under armour there for dirt cheap too from time to time.

600 thread count sheets and pillow cases and a Ralph Lauren comforter on my bed. TJMaxx or Marshalls. Check there first. You can find really bad ass sets for dirt cheap.

thread count is way overrated. anything over 400 is probably misleading.

The higher the count, the softer it feels. Believe it or not, the best sheets are from the Company Store. I only have white sheets and the ones from the Company Store are softer than Frette.

I'm sleeping in silk sheets with down comforters because it is the closest thing to women's panties I can get.
