Try not to make shit up or make assumptions about medical diagnostics without knowing what you are talking about, this barbiegirl wanted to look like something in particular, that does not mean she had any issues with her own body to begin with.
One of the main criteria for most diagnostics include some sort or interference with a significant area of a person's life (social, family, work, etc) in her case her appearance actually draws people to her and to her business, hence there is not distress to the main functions and areas of life.
Here are the official DSM-IV diagnostic criteria for Body Dysmorphic Disorder:
A. Preoccupation with an imagined defect in appearance. If a slight physical anomaly is present, the person's concern is markedly excessive.
B. The preoccupation causes clinically significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning.
C. The preoccupation is not better accounted for by another mental disorder(e.g., dissatisfaction with body shape and size in Anorexia Nervosa).
Without even being her therapist it is pretty clear she does not meet the criteria, I know you enjoy taking jabs at actual scientifically proven to work medicine but try not to take ignorant stabs in the dark towards the profession and it's treatments/diagnostics without educating yourself a little bit, it spreads the ignorance when someone states an uncertainty as a fact.
Dear Lawd id liked to thank teh baby jesus for "This message is hidden because blueta2 is on your ignore list."
OMG, someone, please shoot me now!
Hand Chris the gun so it's done fast!

Sorry, I get sensitive when it comes to diagnostics, I hate it when people try labeling people with issues without even knowing them, hence why I've stayed away from the bipolar bish thread....
doesnt take a medical professional, the diagnostic criteria I posted was obtained from a simple google search, hence why I get pissed off when people just randomly make shit up or talk about things they dont know as if there were actual properly-credentialed medical professionalsBut I assume that a trained, properly-credentialed medical professional's diagnostic opinion would be evaluated seriously, correct?
smurf can vouch for my Englishnan stfu u always talk out ur messican hairy ass crack u dont even fukn know ingles sa

Oh dont get me wrong I agree with the bipolar thread and the OP feels he's gotten good information from the thread so power to him, I'm just saying why I steer clear of it, and that's because as a professional in mental health it is hard for me to watch people just label stuff and it's even harder for me no to give out my own opinion but I rather keep it to myself because I dont know all the facts, even though I'm not acting as a psychologist on the board I know that some of you know that I am, and I would never want anyone to feel like the things I post here are serious or professional unless I seriously state it.I don't get it nan.
It would be the same as someone describing the symptoms of a disease I watched my child suffer from, and I feel like you're saying I couldn't say, "Hey, that sounds like xyz my child had and it was awful...I know because I've been there. It may or may not be serious but you need to get your ass to a doctor or its going to get much worse"... because I'm not a doctor.
More people get help for things if they realize there is treatment, but even first they have to recognize there is a problem. I don't understand why you would want to stifle the conversation, or why you would actually get pissed reading people talk about suggesting someone actually analyze behavior and suggesting going and getting some help instead of being miserable.
I do understand why saying someone has BDD just by looking at a pic wouldn't be wise at all, but the bipolar thread?
who? me?Is she one of Spartacus' pals?

I also know it's cathartic for people to talk and share about their own experiences
The reason why I got pissy ion this thread is because blue stated "Be pissed at the MD's who came up with this, not me......Jeez" which is wrong, MDs did not come up with diagnostic criteria as she was applying it to the barbie girl and bodybuilders.
I tend to defend the profession a little too much because people already have enough misconceptions about psychologists and psychiatrists, there's a reason why we are a last resort for help for most people, they'll talk to friends, family and priests before they come to us![]()

that's cuz you're a good eggI completely understand![]()

I read the first few books back when I did more commercial flights. I remember the last book I read ended with the supposedly murdered mom resurfaced with a dead look on her face avenging one of her kids (or someone she thought was her kid).
Does that sound about right?
