Oh dont get me wrong I agree with the bipolar thread and the OP feels he's gotten good information from the thread so power to him, I'm just saying why I steer clear of it, and that's because as a professional in mental health it is hard for me to watch people just label stuff and it's even harder for me no to give out my own opinion but I rather keep it to myself because I dont know all the facts, even though I'm not acting as a psychologist on the board I know that some of you know that I am, and I would never want anyone to feel like the things I post here are serious or professional unless I seriously state it.
I also know it's cathartic for people to talk and share about their own experiences
The reason why I got pissy ion this thread is because blue stated "Be pissed at the MD's who came up with this, not me......Jeez" which is wrong, MDs did not come up with diagnostic criteria as she was applying it to the barbie girl and bodybuilders.
I tend to defend the profession a little too much because people already have enough misconceptions about psychologists and psychiatrists, there's a reason why we are a last resort for help for most people, they'll talk to friends, family and priests before they come to us
