I dont think they are all banned. I hear a lot of those songs on the local Clearchannel station all the time.

I looooooooove that song! I have a 7inch of it and also the punk cover by Goldfinger. It's not really about anything, bunch of baloons accidentally set off early wanring system and the cold war happens, the song is about "I want to make some money selling my music goddamit" than anything else.....

actually Goldfinger's cover is more like a cover of 7 Seconds Cover of 99 Red Baloons. IMO

They didn't ban any of these songs. Clear Channel released a list of suggested songs to avoid after 9/11. That's all gone by the wayside now, and a lot of Clear Channel stations ignored the list anyway.

As if it was getting a lot of airplay or something. It was a one-hit wonder back in my college days.
