Badasses at the gym

Since we have a morons at the gym thead, lets do a badass at the gym since you tend to run into some people at the gym who are complete badasses.

Theres this guy at my gym. He's a hispanic gentleman in his early to mid twenties. He doesn't talk much, he doesn't grunt or slam weights. He just lifts. His cleans are very precise. Watching him clean is like watching an olympic lifter clean. Really precise. He also squats a whole hell alot. I haven't seen him max, but he squats 275 with precision form. Doesn't grunt, doesn't stress, doesn't even make a noise. Real clean and precise squatting. His front squats are even nicer. Same thing, lesser weight, but super good form as always. Almost robotic.

I've sen him deadlift too. Same thing. Good clean precise form. No stress at all.

Then theres this other dude I see. He's not a big guy either. I saw him today squatting 225's for reps. Not much weight, but he squeezes a few more reps during each set. Just when you think he's done doing his set of 8 reps, he squeezes out 3-4 more. He struggles, but gets them because he really wants it.

Theres other badasses at my gym, but these two gentleman really caught my attention. It's always a pleasure seeing them there doing their shit. I don't talk to them though because I don't talk to anyone. I just notice them.

ya i keep my eyes open and notice others how they put there routines together and form, try n make sense of it and get ideas for changing up my own routines when they get stale...but for the most part im the bad ass! haha j/k
seriously tho the gym i go to isnt that hardcore... mostly curls in the squat rack, fat guys doing a million crunches etc etc....a few bb`s tho i can give props too

I have the pleasure and privilege to work out with some of the strongest men on the planet. We all joke around and have a good time. We needle each other like brothers would, but when someone is in the rack or pulling or whatever, it is all business. We may cheer them on or encourage them to get that one or two extra reps, but that is about it. These guys never make a scene about how many plates are on a bar, or intimidate others that may be around, or do anything that is not considered welcoming even to the guy that can barely bench the bar. I seem to be the exception, but the only yelling I do is at the weights when I hit a big PR, but it is not intended to be a badass, it is intended to intimidate the weight to be scared of me, and not have the balls to get on my bar - that is how I train, and have trained for years. Sometimes I may offend, but it is never my intent.

My whole point here, is that while the gym douchbag seems to get the most attention, they are actually the fewest in number to those that act in a professional "no shit" attitude.

And I swear, the higher the poundage, the more humble the lifter. Unless you are talking about Kirk Karwaski - he can do what ever in the hell he wants.

I agree with the whole thing of the higher the poundage the more humble the lifter. Every once in awhile i see someone benching over 400lbs and the thing these guys have all in common it's they are quiet oh and they all do countless sets of chinups.

one guy was deadlifting 475 with straps in my little town family YMCA and everyone was looking because it was fucking loud. I was waiting to get in, and litteraly after his first rep some chicks stopped on the tredmil and just stared at him because it was echoing throughout the whole gym and nobody knew what deadlifts are. Everyone was asking each other wtf he was doing lol

yep, been seeing them in gyms for years.... and its always the thin wirey guy that head right to the pullup bar and blows everyone away. looking at the weight these guys lift, its usually a bit more than bodyweight for reps. then i see some deadlifting a pretty good amount. i see big guys doing a lot of weight, but the skiinny giy looks like he has more weight for his bodyweight..there's badasses in all gyms, but the ones that i see, ll seem to be the same. the thin former x country runner, or swimmer..
seen one thin guy doing at least 100 dips.. sets of 20..hardly any rest..

Very little to prove to anyone.
They are tired because of the heavy lifting.
They understand that being aggressive burns more calories AND increases cortisone/cortisol.

:)

A rather large fella asked me if he could hop in on the flat bench with me i finished my set and offered him the bench... thats when he proceded to curl the weight i left on there :(
