Back injury

Heahy Minister

New member
I just got a back injury not even from training a few days ago. Was carrying something of decent weight and turned around. After that, something in my lower right side of back pinched.

Now whenever my back is in a certain position there is some discomfort, but I also feel the pain (you can call it more a "tingle", although it is uncomfortable) at my right knee. Feels a bit weak.

I was told this is my schiactic (sp?) nerve. Any insight?

Does the pain run from the back of your leg down to the back of your knee? Or is it more localized at the joint?

could be sciatica, go see a chiropractor. If it is, like gymtime said, it would run down your leg thru the distribution of the nerve.

More localized around my right knee and behind it. Doesn't really run down the leg. Not really painful, but tingly sorta like it's gonna fall asleep.

Around my lower right back as well, more sharp there.

You have probably compromised the sciatic nerve which originates from the lumbar spine (low back). A quick and easy way to determine if it is truly sciatica is to have someone perform a straight leg raise test on you. Lie on your back with your uninvolved leg bent up with the foot supported. Someone then slowly moves your involved leg (while keeping it straight) straight up. If you experience shooting pain down the back of your leg with this motion, you most likely have sciatic nerve compromise. Go see an MD and get a script for physical therapy.
