Austin Police officer fired for Racist behavior

First, let me address your fascination with "REVERSE DISCRIMINATION," which is just silly to begin with. All of your threads seem to relate to how whites are being mistreated by African-Americans. Funny fascination you have here.

Secondly, THIS IS A GREAT DECISION. I don't care if the officer was on the force for 30 years. If you are a racist you a racist. This has nothing to do with the amount of time you've spent on your job. Racism has been put down in its appropriate place-----down in the trenches, where it will stay. This message sends a loud message: no matter how much time you've spent on your job, if you are a racist, you are "outta here."

Third: People dislike their families all the time. It's obvious that being married to an African-American woman hasn't enlightened the officer at all......Simply because he is married to an African American woman says nothing about him not being a racist...............Many racists have ties to the African American community.

As the old saying goes, "covert racism is much more dangerous than overt racism." Cleary, the officer's wife didn't realize she was married to a racist. However, because of this brave opinion she now does.

Long live the Civil Rights Struggle and employers, such as here, who have the balls to stand-up and say "Enough is enough."........................Martin Luther Kind is smiling down at us all.......

I would almost guarantee this Profile stop was not the Officer's Idea. he most likely had been trained specifically on Profiling and Reasonable Suspicion procedures by the Department.

Very few Local / State Law Enforcement agencies don't require this type of profile training as part of the Basic and Continuing certification requirement.

Is it right? No, for the most part.
Does it work? Yes in a lot of situations in my opinion.
Will we see more lawsuits and crackdown like this one? You Bet!

I was once stopped because I was driving in a predominantly Black neighborhood(I am white) known for drug sales.
I was asked why I was there by the officer.
I told her I was taking a short cut.
She made a comment suggesting I was looking for something Illegal.
I told her No, and thanked her for her concern in a cynical tone.

It pissed me off.

Ryan H,

You are clueless. Period end of statement.

y whole family is in law enforcement, racial profiling exists- because it works. Here's an example- If you see two 16 year old white kids in a late model SUV driving thru the projects they are usually there to buy drugs. So you wait for them to fail to use a turn signal, and pull them over.

Is that racism?????? There is a difference between racism and reality!!

I am no racist. I have some preudices, but we all do!! I do not hate anyone for the color of their skin.

Do you have a single clue of what cops go thru every day??? Of course not, you are content to sit back and judge people, without ever knowing them or any of the circumstances invloved.

I find you annoying. Kind of like a gnat.

The thing that really gets to me is:
You can have a Black Television Station (BET)
A Black Radio Station (WBLS in NY)
Black Parades
My college has a Black Ball (dancing ball)
and countless other things with the word Black before them

But...
If you have a white tv or a white parade or a white ball, you're a racist and it won't be tolerated

I have no problems with any kind of people, just the things that people do

Unfortunately, Ryanh is speaking of topics he knows knothing about. I was Deputy for four years. And there is something called reasonable suspicion, which in and of itself is enough to pull someone over. I won't try to explain it because ryan would just say I was full of shit, until you do the job don't comment on it. I would not expect you to understand Marines or cops, but we understand and will take care of you.
