I know that this has been an ongoing topic, but why are all the gyms around my area so fucking expensive? I live in Fairfield County in CT. The prices range from 50 up to 99 dollars a month. To some that's not much, but to my broken down ass it's ridiculous. Anyone from this area know of any cheap places that are good to train at???

I feel you bro Im currently payin 50 bucks a month which comes out to 600 dollars a month. It's funny though because I tend to go to the gym atleast twice a day to lift and than cardio and the bitch there thats a physical trainer the other day came up to me and was like your here alot and I was like fuck ya man for 50 bucks a month I'm about to set a cot up and live in this bitch

Hahaha... Nice one. I am moving across the country and will no longer have my nice highrise with built-in gym. I dont think my new apt communities gym will suffice, so I will be paying for the memberships too. Not entirely looking forward to it.

Not to steal the thread - but anyone know of any good gyms in the Bellevue WA area?

My sentiments exact. I am not certain with the overhead and what not in a gym, sure insurance is a bitch, but all those members x $45? I know my last gym the owner and his wife both did not work anywhere else and they were well off.

Nice- for once something is cheaper in Canada.

I've been to Gold's here and it's $50/month- (CDN obviously). But I go to a community leisure centre which is partially subsidized by the city and pay $24/month. AND the gym is better than gold's.

And I feel much bigger there. gold's is full of stupid ass juice pigs.

Oh wait- I'm a juice p..... never mind.

fairfield county is very expensive, but you already knew that; im in central ct right now, my gym charges $30/month, the cheapest i could find is $150/year but the stuff there is kinda old

CASH UP FRONT!!!

Trust me, if the gym is not a corporate finness mall, then speak to teh owner/manager and ask about price breaks for paying up front (12+ months) and all in cash. After that, you have undoubtedly gained a reputation and elevated yourself to a place of some prominence withing the gym to the point where your absence is even more noticible than your presence. At that point, you no longer have to pay a membership at all.

Well, at least the cash up front thing usually works...the rest is just my personal experience.

lol...that is true I would live in there too, try to find a university, there passes are pretty cheap sometimes. Good luck man

Chops

i was paying $40 per month, but i signed a 12 month contract, now i only pay like 25.50 per month. and i still pay month to month.

i've already done the local university thing, that's the 50 a month i'm paying now!!! I mine as well start walking out with 45 lbs plates in my pants and hope these bastards don't notice!!

Hey bro I know what you meeeeeeen...well the bad news is in Fairfeild county the YMCA is even through the roof. But what you could do is go to worlds gym in stamford...right now they have a deal $99 for I think it's 4 months......that give you some time to get in a nice little cycle before winter, and after your membership runs out they will have a winter special, for about 350 for the year or something like that......I use to work there so I know....
The gyms in and around this area are to much money.......but once you start shopping for deals and you know what gyms have what deals and at what times.....your good to go.......then you can plan your year/with out contracts......
there is also a gym in Portchester, that is open 24 hours......kinda nice when you want to make an early night comming home from the factory and you have nothing better to do,stop in for a work out......
I just came back from a vacation in PR it was a dollar a day..to work out.....

Newbie1, do u know if the worlds in trumbull is running the same special, cause i live right in fairfield, so for me to go stamford everyday is a hike!!!

Damn, I work in a hospital so I get a little discount through the YMCA. I pay $24 a month for a membership, and get the choice of going to 2 different gyms.:p

I go to a small private gym, it looks like the original Gold's in Pumping Iron. Tons of free weights, few machines, etc. Great place. I pay 27.00 a month, I would be paying $19.00, but that deal is only allowing you to go from 5am-4pm, mine is all day. So, perhaps find a private gym? I know the Golds right down the street charged $55.00 and that doesn't even include tanning!

No the worlds in trumble is under a diffrent owner so for his deals I am not to sure of.....there are three in Stamford and one in Greenwich, and also one in shelton all owned by the same two brothers....so at those gyms....all the deals are the same......

He aint kidding, my uncle and aunt just joined 24 hour fitness for a total of $1300 for 3 years!! and that includes 7 personal trainer visits. After that 1 year is only $90!!! So if your in it for the long haul and dont want ot move soon that damn try cash up front!
