Article on steroids and (dead)professional wreslters

No worse than the bodybuilders, and you don't see them dropping like flies to the same extent. Like I said, probably because of the disparity between the two groups when it comes to rec drugs, personalities, and lifestyles.

I agree, likely pain killers and rec drugs. You may notice that they mention numerous times about pain killers in high doses. Yet the author just never seems to make THAT connection.

The work-load and mistreatment of wrestlers is the main reason they turn to drugs and other means of medication to survive. Roddy Piper tried to start a union many years ago to unify the wrestlers and give them a pension plan etc... but McMahon crushed it.

Steroids may be an issue, but the general lifestyle of you average wrestler has more to do with early death than anything else.

Interesting that you mentioned type A personalities....I have no doubt of the connection between type a personality and CHD, but just wondering how you are so sure these people that died are type A??
UD

Just a general feeling I get about them...I don't think someone who was type B would prefer a job in the entertainment industry.

And mustang...how are wrestlers put through more punishment than other athletes? Just the fact that they perform year-round? Or do you mean that their jobs are more physically demanding than other sports? I think the latter is not even close to the truth.

fair enough...i'll buy that

Did anyone catch this statement in the article?

"Some admit to use of human-growth hormones, a muscle-building compound even more powerful and dangerous than steroids."

WTF???
