Arnold gone down hill

WTF am I seeing that right??? I mean I know he is in his 50s, but shit in my mind I suspected he would look much better than that without his shirt on.

Was this taken after his shoulder surgery? Because there are pics of him on a beach right after his surgery where he looks like a complete mess, but he turned it around when he shot Terminator 3.

It's funny how ppl want to shit on the greatest bb of all time. The guy is almost fkn 60 YRS OLD!!! He probably looks better than any of you will when you're 57. Oh yeah, plus he's the Gov. of CALIFORNIA. Not like it's a high stress job or anything albeit he took over in the middle of collapse from a loser (Davis)
Oh, also his physique was superior to anyone here at the age of 17. ggthnxbye. :chomp:

Not talking shit lol, just saying it's sad to see him like this, compared to what he used to look, and sure if he worked out seriously, or atleast semi seriously still he could look better,....

But ya he is 57 I think :) still got some biceps, and I'm sure if he wanted to he could get buffed up some...

Priorities change as we grow older. HIs priorities went from BB to movies to politics. It just so happened that in order to be successful in movies, he needed to keep his killer physique. Now that he's in politics, he doesn't need it anymore.

Well put Toxic....can't agree more.

He's 57 years old Bro!!!! What do you expect.

By all accounts, my father in his prime was unbelievably strong. I definitely got his genetics, no question in that regard. My uncle often told me about how he (my Old Man) destroyed everyone in sight in strength competitions everywhere he went. Even now, when I meet people who knew him they say "Your father was a lion of a man in his day"

Yet, my only memories of my father was of a injury wrecked man, in poor physical condition, who could barely walk due to artritis, and was regularly housebound. I often asked "Who was this strongman everyone told me about - Certainly not Jimmy (my dad)"? However, the man was in his 60's!

Come on Bro, Arnold in his prime was amazing, and to be honest, those photos are a gross invasion of privacy.

Great post reference your Father, Riverrock .... k
Arnold was the daddy...I don't care what he looks like now and neither should anyone else for that matter. I would say he single handedly raised a nation, no, make that a western world, on what he did and looked like... i truly believe that the fitness, physique, health craze of the last 25 years was originally generated by this one man. God bless him.
Peace...

It is common for the "sags" to set in after 50. It is genetic, a part of aging" and the result of gravity. You can see it on Rick Flair the wrestler. He is only 57 and has it bad.

However, it is not required and can be fought with success. You have to change your workouts to more strength building with 6 reps. You have to change to your diet to a combination of veggies and protein. AND .... you need HRT or some gear.

Arnold would be crucified by the media if he began to take testo. He needs it. He is beloved by all, but he is not aging gracefully. No one mentioned the face lift and the Bosely hair plugs.

I think that if you have your own bbing contest named after youthat you should look good. Look at Jack LaLane hes like 80 or 90 and looks good. Arnold was the one whose name broughtan image of rock in my mind as long as i can remember. He may be one of the reasons I started lifting. I think he owes it to himself to look good.

lol.. you guys are funny.. these pictures were before T3. Take a look at him in T3..he looks great.. and besides, after 30 years of body building, if the guy wants to let it go and retire from it, I think he has earned that right! Besides, just as it was mentioned earlier in this post, Arnold probably did change the way the world thinks in the lines of being in shape, body building etc..if it wasn't for arnold, hell, we wouldn't have those disgusting looking freaks like ronnie coleman to scratch our heads and think, "WTF .. does that guy (r.c) think he looks good?"

did you guys see how franco columbu looks like... you can see a HUGE difference on the pumping iron reunion documentary... yes he's alot older... but i guess it comes with age.... i'm surprised he let himself go like that though..... sad to see... first one though definately looks photoshoped...

He's 57 years old Bro!!!! What do you expect.

I expect someone 57 to look a lot better then that even if they don't lift. My dad who never lifter in his life looks bette then that and he is 63. I take it that these photos were after his surgery, so that makes sence. He doesn't look good for a 57 year old who's life revolved around fitness. I don't expect the drug induced hugeness that he had years ago, but at least be semi toned up.

I'm sorry but who gives a flying fuck what the guy looks like now. He was one of the best (IMO the best) and he doesn't owe it to anyone to maintain his physique. He's come from being a poor kid in a little European town to being a multiple Mr.Olympia, to being a hollywood movie star, to being married into one of the most powerful families in America, to being a governor of one of America's most recognised states.

And he still brought his body back well enough to show it off in T3. Think he deserves a break if he wants it? Fuck yes I do.

Peace ;)

Don't forget. It's doubtful he just puts in an 8 hr day. then has time to hit the gym before going home for a night with the wife. He has limited energy, & if he's governing a State, trying to figure out how to run for Prez, & flirting with all that strange tail, he's not gonna have energy left for Gym.

I say Arnold quit politics, and go for mr Olympia 2007 :D Or maybe just start off with Arnold Classics hehe

OMG!!!

Hey the body does not have to go!!!

Have seen some guys at natural shows that are seriously tasty, and then they get called on for the over 50s!!

Shocking!!

I intend on being the sexiest granny in the nursing home, LoL

Who says BB can't change the world-the pollutionator

ARnie may have redeemed himself, IMO, even though he did allow the founder of the Crips, and now anti-gang campaigner be executed. He may not turn out to be such a scary governator after all!

Only in the States would they elect a former BB and movie star, and supports my fav statement "It came from California"!!!!

FRom New SCientist 21 January 2006 pg 18

Since becoming California' s governor in 22003, I have travelled the world promoting my great state, meeting with government officials, business leaders and ordinary citizens,. THere are many challenges that confront this international community, but one in particlar was ont he minds of nearly everyone: global warming.

They all wanted to discuss it withme, espeially since I RECENTLY COMMITTED caLIFORNIA TO LEADING THE WORLDWIDE EFFORT TO FIGHT GLobal warming, . By 2010, we will reducle greenhourse gases to the levels we produced in 2000, by 2020, we will cut back to 1990 levels.

The science shows that human-made pollution has added more than 50 per cent of thenatural level of carbondioxide in our atmosphere...........

That's why I say the debate is over. WE know the science and we see the threat. ost of all, I say that the time for action is now. Global warming, and the pollution and burning of fossil fuels that cause it, threatens every person inthe world

Those are the main reasons I take global warming so seriously, but to be honest I have 10 million more reasons: the children of California, including four of my own. WHile we already face impacts from global warming, it is our children who will be harmed the most if we don't act aggressively and promptly t revese these trends. ..............

My programs for a million solar roofs, the hydrogen highway initiative (which aims to catayse a move towards a hydrogen fueled transport in the state), and obtaining more energy from farm waste and other biomass will significantly reduce greenhouse gas emmissions, while simultaneously making us more energy-independent. And these measures save money too.l

WE will also make our 70,000 state vehicles the cleanest, greenest in nation, and thanks to our landmark greenhouse gas law, from 2009 all new vehicles sold in California will emit significantly lower levels of greenhouse gases than today's vehicles. Other states and nations are following this example and adopting our standards.

But this is only the beginning. The California Public Utilities Commission recently launched the largest energy-efficiency investment programme in the history of the US utility industry, with some $ 2 bilion committed over the next three years aimed at saving the equivalent of three giant coal-fired power plants. This should cut CO2 emissions by more than 3 million tonnes pe year-equivalent to taking 650,000 cars off the road.

We also have the nation's most ambitious plans for renewable energy and expect that by 2010 we will get at least 20 percent of our electricity supply from clean renewable sources and a third by 2020. But traditional powe soruces such as coal must be cleaner too.......requires any new electricity plant emit no more greenhouse gases per kilowatt-hour than a new combined-cycle naural gas turbine. The challenge to the coal industry is clear: if you want California investment, you must take global warming seriously.

There is also our Green building initiative, which aims to make state buildings among teh most energy-efficient inthe nation I have also put the state on an energy "diet" :as the largest consumer of electricity in California, the state government itselof is on a path to reduce its energy use by 20 percent within a decade ..............Everyone can reduce car trips and conserve energy energy in their homes and businesses-two things that will reduce greenhouse gases immediately.

Everyone can also join me in calling on the US federal government government to double vehicle fuel economy. And everyone can call on their electricity providers to generate clean, renewable energy, and demand that coal power come only from the cleanest new technologies.
Our experience in California and my conversations with people around the world convince me that there is unity around the uregent need for action on global warming. Or as President John F Kennedy said:

"In the final analysis, our most basic common link is that we all inhabit this small planet. We all breath the same air. We all cherish our children's futures"

Let us unite around those simple, incontrovertible values and take actions now

tatanya, I think your quote illustrates how far Arnold has come as a man. he used bodybuilding to get where he is. He now uses his powers or what have you to make a better place for millions of people, not just him.

he basically made himself as powerful as possible, and now he turns to make life better for others.

How does bodybuilding fit in with his goals? Not to much probably, and that's fine.

BB agenda

I have a similar agenda, the UK is turning into the land of the fat!!!!

Had to do the mandatory core training at hospital I work at, and we were talking about how patients are not lifted anymore, have slings.

I thought I would be all clever about how it was an issue in hospitals if they had a 20 stone (280 lb/127kg) patient, with MRSA, it would be a problem as the sling would have to be sterilised if a second patient came in.

The nurse practioner for the back care, looked at me oddly and said we currently had 5 patients between 36 and 45 stone (490lbs/223kg and 630lbs/286kg) and that was USUAL.

She herself, is what I would consider grossly overweight, and was talking about how someone's back could be damaged just bending over and picking up a pair of slippers, that it wasn't the weight, but the angle of the back......

I didn't tell her I had been doing dead lifts with 75 kg the previous evening!! I think she would have been horrified!! She also admitted to regularly 'skipping' lunch as it made her feel sleepy in the afternoon!!

People seem to have no grasp of reality when it comes to what they are shoving down their throats! It is getting really scary, and what is going to happen when there is this massive divide between 'bariac' (sp?)/morbidly obese and people who actually able to move!!! Bariac is the new pc term for morbidly obese, human rights and dignity!

So I have an agenda. My agenda used to be mainly environmental, however after spending 5 years on the environmental 'front lines', I realised that to 'heal the planet' it was first necessary to 'heal the people'.

I have put my head, heart and body through hell/heaven and back (some of it felt great, sometimes I wanted to crawl in a hole and die) to get some things sorted, all the damage, some from childhood, some just a result of growing up, some I even inflicted on myself. I have been looking at why I hav been 'medicating' myself with food, nicotine, drugs, sex.....I still have a huge thing about shopping, I can't resist a great pair of shoes or a handbag, especially if it is in the sales!!!

I also realised that just sorting out my immediate environment was not going to be enough, so, here I am tarting around on the internet.

And in all honesty, it really didn't occur to me that I might be able to make a difference because my ass looks great in a bikini, didn't even occur to me that my ass lookked all that great......I have had to learn to listen to what people are saying to me, about me, and be responsible for how I look. I am responsible for how I look, and I was responsible for how I looked when I was a chubette, I am responsible for how I look when I step on stage in a bikini.

I always thought that making a difference in the world would be linked to my work in science, or my other vocation, painting.......

I am one of the lucky ones. Really, I should be a big fat bloater by now. I have weight trained, ran and rode my bicycle, on and off, since the age of 16, I have the 'mesomorph' body type that can build muscle and take off fat (and put it on) quite quickly. The gym is like my church, and running and weights are like my meditation, my prayer. I go a bit potty if I don't manage to get my butt in the gym.

I became a vegetarian around the age of 20, and was quite quickly introduced to macrobiotics. That dealt with my 'fat' habits (butter, cheese, cream, crisps/chips...).

I 'fell' into bodybuilding, by accident. The closest gym to my new house in England was a proper bodybuilders gym. Several pro-natural bodybuilders trained there, and being a curious type of person, ended up going to a show.

I ended up spending so much time training I thought I had better do something with it, otherwise it was just self-absorbed navel-gazing. People kept telling me that I had a great physique and that I would do well.

So now, I am planning on using my body to make a difference, and what that will end up looking like.....

Arnold is the best bodybuilder that ever lived in my opinion he inspired me to lift weights when I was young. I am 35 now and still remember how he was an inspiration back then to me. And who cares what he looks like now he is 57 years old he made himself marketable and made it big time. I would bet he has to be worth around 300 million also he came from nothing and he is the Govenor of California. I just wish that in my life time I could acheive what he has acheived.

thats too bad.. All those health and heart problems he has must have been from all those years of drug use. I know plenty of people in their 50's that look great because they eat right and exercise WITHOUT abusing steroids. Not that it is bad to use but when you abuse aas like he did and as long as he did, there will be consequences my friend.

Arnolds won it all and proved all there was to prove with his body. He hasn't been on stage since 1980 and when the time does come to shoot an action movie, he does pull it all together (End of Days, T3, etc).

Right now he is running an entire state. He has hardly any free time. In a recent interview he said he could go to Worlds and hang out with the guys, but he believes his children are the future and deserve all his free time. While he misses those times, he said he believes in looking forward, not back.

To get in the shape he was in T3, it was very hard for him. Not only did he have heart surgery which prevents any gear use and no heavy weights, but he also had broken ribs. But the point is, he did it. What does he have to prove with his body now? What does he owe to anyone? He is in the guiness book of world records for having the most best built body of all time.

Anyone hating on Arnold or saying they know people who look better at that age, I want to know how many Olympia and Universe titles you have and I want to see pics of those people when they were around 22 and winning every title under the sun like Arnold was.

He ushered in bodybuilding to the mainstream. Without him, it is very likely there wouldn't be all the gyms there are everywhere today, and we might not be on this board right now. Try to show some respect.
