Arnold a hypocrit too!!

I dont know if any of you heard this but arnold said he was going to use his new power as the editor and cheif of FLEX and M&F to put pressure on the IFBB to ban steroid use. He said that he was going to use his new position to discourage steroid use completely. Now this is the most hypocritical thing I have ever heard. God knows he had to be on something get back in the shape he did for T-3. I know he is just covering his political stake, but it still makes me feel betrayed.

I think thats fantastic. It's gone too far with the pro's. Enough with these near dead bloated blobs. Johm Grimeck, Steve Reeves, Reg Park (early in his career), Clancy Ross, etc didn't need steroids to look great. They were real role models that you could look up to.

Of course going back to those times would be too far of a stretch after what we've seen. But maybe it will get them to stop awarding the biggest (which isn't always the best these days), and get some guys who look great like Dexter, a shot at the O.

I think it's wrong for him to say he wants to help have them banned, but maybe he should try to get them to cut down a bit. It would be great to see guys who looked like Sergio, Arnold, Zane, etc up on stage and winning.

hey Bigp3...what would you do in his position???.. Not so easy to answer...

all those guys you talked about back in the day were loaded to the hilt too. They just did not have the knowledge that the guys today have. I think that has more to do with the physique changes than the drugs, although they are a big part of it.

My whole point on this was Arnold should not be casting stones when he has been a lifetime user.

Steve Reeves was loaded to the hilt? WOW news to me. You do know he built all of his mass in the late 30's and early 40's. His last show was in 1950. I don't recall even protein powder being availible back then. Nice try bro, but not good enough :)

They will start using custom taylored roids with a short half life instead, like all the olympians. Sure Arnold is saying what is good for his political career now that he is out of the BB game. He changed his stance on roids in his BB encyclopedia as well.

I am not saying reeves was, that is an obvious one. But arnold, sergio and all those guys from the 60's and 70's were.

I understand that arnold is stuck between a rock and a hard place with his political agenda now. I was just hoping he would have some balls and stand up for the rest of us.

Actually weight lifters back then were using a crude form of test. But strictly for strength. It did nothing for bodybuilding purposes. It made you VERY bloated, extremely enlarged testicles were the norm, and balding was almost for sure. Other than that, there was no d-bols, primos or any other things. I don't recall Steve, or John being bald with an over the top bloated look...

Oh, of course Arnold, Serge etc were on. Thats why I think maybe Arnold should put pressure on them to calm it down a bit. Then maybe we would see guys like that again. I think we read both our posts wrong. :P

Arnold should use this to clean up the magazines and put truths in there not 15 page reports of hydroxycut

I also dont believe supporting gear is a good idea for him,but condeming it is stupid and very hypocritical

I just wanted to be clear with everyone that I am not trying to knock anyones dick in the dirt. Arnold is still my hero. It is just so nuts these days how all our rights are flying out the window and no one big is really standing up for it. I guess I was hoping Arnold would be that guy!!

It was said that arnold ate dbol like candy and that primo was his fav injectable

ya those mags suck...almost 30 pages of the same brand adds like cell tech...and that is a good thing to band AS for the bodybuilding world...It will show who the real deals are...tru genetics will show...and the most wealthy will not have a better chance because of all the roids they can buy...I take this posistion from the sport point of view only

ofcoarse he is going to want to ban steroids....with a status such as his and an issue that is at the top of the political podium he has no choice but to crack down on steroids...yes it is disapointing that he would do this considering he was more yolked up than an egg, but as a governor it is his job to do this....back in the 80's it was his job to use them...times have changed....by the way i agree with you in that this is rediculous

that's pretty lame......

they should change the judging standards if they want to change the sport.....

He stood up yesterday for less regulation of OTC supplements. That counts for something since Bush's FDA is wanting to remove many of them including Andro from the market. And yesterday the supplement haters even mentioned taking another look at creatine. I think getting supplements on the black market will be a huge pain, so I give him praise for standing up for us here.

Arnold can trade in our favor. He can perhaps influence punishment for use or possession in a positive way if he takes a stand against their use, but fair with punishment. Also, he is knowledgable and can bring a real voice to the debate itself. Lastly, he may be able to talk deals about preserving supplements, educating the public, and talking sensibly about the whole scene.

Arnold's a smart guy, folks. Let's see what his plan is before we go bashing him.

He is in a public eye right now. He has to make these sort of comments.
Even if he does go and make these comments, will it really stop any of us from obtaining them or using them.

it not like he could endorse it. Imagine a world with out recreational steroid use. It would be the same as now except safer, cheaper and smalller

actually believe it or not, some of the pros may not mind having to compete being alittle smaller. Look at howmany guys we have lost and how many have retiered in the past year.

How about making them legal and improving them. Making them with less side effects etc research and production. You know what I mean. Banning anything is a bad idea. Look at the "WAR ON DRUGS". You cant fight everything at once, they have been losing this "war" since they started it. One word for them, morons.

just my two cents here, but if it wasn't for the "Juice" there would be no Arnold as we know him today. He can attribute almost everything he has from bodybuilding and steriods, and now he wants them banned??

so true, he owes a lot to the juice,,, I am sure with his motivation he would have been successful at something maybe not to the extent he is now though

Ahhh another Bill Phillips. They had their good ol time with the steroids and now that they have chosen to get out of the game they want everyone else too as well. Of course when you get "mainstream" and are viewed by alot of the people in the general world the best thing you could do to make yourself look good to the general population is to go against steroids which most people think are HORRIBLE. I dunno, I definately feel that in today's world things have gone overboard with the steroid use but that's just the way it's gonna be. People want more and more and more and to get there faster as well and as long as steroids are in production, people will find ways to use it. Ehhhh next he'll be agreeing with the ban of ephedrine......

It is called self promotion,, that is all it is about with arnold now, not what is right and what is wrong

I didn't get to the end of the thread yet to see if anyone answered this, but there were a lot of conflicting stories about this. Some say (like himself for instance) he would use as little as a few d-bols a day, some say he used to dump a good part of a bottle of them in his hand, wash them down, and say "Let's train!".

All in all though I don't think he used anywhere near what guys use today. Fact is, back 30, 40, 50 years ago bodybuilders didn't even know if you could LIVE after taking 2 grams a week of steroids.

I know too there were other guys who built impressive physiques on small doses and used only steroids and not insulin, gh, etc. Mentzer said he would often cycle only to get ready for a contest, and even then he used pretty limited amounts. His brother Ray was at one time a pretty big mofo himself, a lot of people don't realize that because for some reason or another I don't think he even competed at his peak. Ray said in an interview once that he was lifting some tremendous weights and he had not even used steriods for a pretty long time, in other words he was sort of like his brother in that he needed them mainly to get into contest shape. I think Casey Viator used some pretty limited dosages back in his early training days.

Now, I'm not saying any of this to be anti-steroid, because I'm not. But it is pretty interesting what many past bodybuilders got out of good old fashioned cycling of moderate dosages and free weights.

I think it is obvious that those guys did not use the dosages that the pros do today and I agree that they have gone to extremes, but this should be a choice for the individual to make.

The guys in the old days just did plain out hard work which is missing today from the sport. I was able to bench 315 for 5 or 6 reps clean and I know guys in my gym that strugle with 225 while jacked up. Bottom line is it all goes back to good old hard work.

I also have to retract some of what I said about arnold being a hypocrit. Rumor has it that when all the shit was going down at the Show last weekend that he stood up and spoke his mind to the feds. I also heard that his advisors were going nuts and wanted him on the next plane out of there. Maybe he is starting to realize the gravity of this whole situation!!

not to bust your balls brother but arnold has admitted using steroid for years, He makes no secret of this. After all they were legal and easy to find when he was in his prime!!
