Army vet/ College level instructors/students/anyone who can help w/ blackboard

as a general rule yes...most classes are kind of done on a points system...you earn points towards your grade for a total that is equiv to an A/4.0.

and yes, the students can only see their own grade info

one professor I had, had an extra credit section that included links related to the general class and you basically had to comment on it for like...10 points (overall class points were 1500)

class discussion is very interesting if you're dicussing something like lit, or sociology..but I don't know how that would translate to something like SCUBA
its generally not moderated but I would imagine for kids you'd have to keep an eye on it

I might open up a forum so I can see what people have issues with regarding pool skills. Thanks....you've been helpful too :)

I teach so if you need any help feel free to ask.....There's something called d2L that has all that stuff you need to post. I'm assuming you're teaching college kids.....Right?So if you need to you can personally e-mail them important data. Ah! I just read it, you're teaching a scuba class. Do they give text books out for that kind of class? Also, do yourself a favor and have an attendance policy....If you're teaching college kids! After 2 unexcused absences deduct 10 points. If they miss on quiz or test days make sure they have an excused absence otherwise burn them.....Don't let make it up! You don't have to post grades if you don' t want too, you can pass back the graded tests or quizzes. Do whatever is easier on you.... As long as you put all the expectations and the format on the syllabi you're good.....Now are you teaching college kids or is this a prep school? because it does make a difference in your approach......

If you are using powerpoint with your lectures, it is a huge help to post your slides online so that students can reference them later

basically it's super helpful to have a resources section containing any written materials you use or reference

^^ yeah I really like that for onsite classes...having blackboard to reference
Ive only had one professor do that tho, usually the onsite classes utterly ignore blackboard
