Arm wrestling

The only way to get strong for arm wrestling is to arm wrestle. There isn't much you can do in the gym to strengthen your joints (elbow and wrist) and tendons for what pressure gets put on them when arm wrestling. There is a lot of technique involved so if this other guy arm wrestles a lot I wouldn't bother pulling him. Plus if you have no idea what you are doing theres a good chance you would put yourself in a bad position and he could easily break your arm, check out Magnus Samuelsson pulling Nathan Jones at the worlds strongest man a few years back (youtube).

arm wrestling is all ego, which im not saying is all wrong, a bit of male bravado is fun every now and again, but arm wrestling is just a recipe for disaster.

these guys dont even look that strong, i guess when you have guys who are benching 300+lbs the chances are a lot more real. think how long that would put you out of training for.

arm wrestling is dumb challenge him to a bench competition or squats

Take it from me. A month ago I arm wrested an older guy from work when he challenged me. I beat him and as I was in the furthest press position (bottom) I tore my rotator cuff. Shoulders had a bit of tendonitis and it just let go. I felt a tingling in my hand and it has hurt so bad ever since I can't do chest or shoulders or back squats.

It hurts when I sleep or every right arm movement period.

Saw the doc yesterday, I have an MRI next week and the doc says he has a bad feeling about this one...

5 months of rehab after the surgery. Gonna cost $1000's too!

IT IS NOT WORTH IT!

Challenge him to a squat, dead, bench competition. Much safer!

Wow! I've arm wrestled a lot but always made sure my elbow was outside my shoulder and went down if I felt too much pressure. Good thing I did cause that would bite to break an arm like that.

DON'T DO IT!!!

This is the result of my accepting a STUPID arm wrestling challenge!

5 days in the hospital and 6 years out of the gym! The worst pain ever!

oh my god, thats you? humerus has completely snapped through, it even look like a fairly sizeable chip has sheared off aswell. you're lucky to be able to lift at all after that! all from a "harmless bit of fun" stuff like this is why i dont arm wrestle anymore!

its all in the wrist, turn your wrist in before the person that you are going agains and it is all yours.
yeah but thats cheating and shouldnt be allowed, the idea is that you both keep elbows in line, and wrists nice and straight to make it even.
when i used to arm wrestle i would always make sure my opponent knew there would be none of that shit beforehand.

Let it be a lesson to all!!!

Well before I even started working out he barely beat me. Now I got tons and tons stronger so he should be no problem.

I got challeneged to an arm wrestle for 50$. Which muscle could I work out that would help with that?

I used to compete in armwrestling back home.

Train your forearms, biceps, shoulders, lats, legs, serratus...lol...you use everything bro....but forearms are key

If you think it's about strength and size onlye, you're mistaken

Arm wrestling is a great sport, and the guys at the top have arm strength which is unbelievable, some of the training they do is crazy. You just have to get into it gradually, like you do with anything else, you wouldn't try and bench 400 the fist time you went into a gym, you would probably kill yourself. Your muscles and joints need time to get used to that weight. Same goes for arm wrestling, takes years to build up the strength in your elbows/wrist/tendons to give and take hits off the "go". I got into it for a while but the pain in my arm after training lasted for days....was like tooth ache all up my arm... so sacked it off. Bill Brzenk only uses his right arm because he wants to have one good arm left after he retires. I personally don't see much point in doing a sport that wrecks a part of your body lol

Just keep your shoulders square to the table and always look at your hand if you are going to do it. People break their arm when they turn away from their hand!

I agree completely! My favourite tecnique is the wrist roll, that magnus samuellson used when he broke nathan jones arm. The idea is to roll the wrist, as if you were pouring water, pulling away from him, keeping your arm as close to your body as possible and his arm away from his body. Keep rolling the wrist and help w you shoulder to the table. Do it as fast as possible! This way you will release is grip on your hand finger by finger and catch him by surprise. Also work out your shoulder rotator inward and outward. Check on youtube, Alexey voevoda training and mafnus samuelsson lessons.
