I have been lifting weights for 10 years but have been a Submission fighter for 5. I may not be big, lifting power and striking power are 2 different things. I got in to a fight last night at a club with this monster. This guy was atleast 235-240 at '6' with less that 6% BF. Really big. I'm 5'10' and 200 pds. He thought he could push me around. Well Strength does'nt do a thing when you have some one on the other end that has 5 years of Boxing, Thai Boxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsi, Wrestling and Submission fighting experience. Broke his Jaw with an elbow shot. Should have been careful who he was fuckin with

TO all my iron brothers. If you think you're invulnerable, learn a few fighting skills. Pure Strenght along with lethal hand combat skills will make you twice as dangerous and confident than you are.

IMO, Thai Boxing is the best. The knees and elbow are devastating. You can throw your hardest punch at Mike Tyson and he won't move but throw an Elbow or knee strike at his head and he'll be out. The Thai kicks are extremely powerful too. Anyone thats ever been kicked by a Thai Boxer with ring experience will tell, its like getting hit my a Baseball Bat. Learn MUAY THAI. It rules.

ive been doing capoeira for a while. im pretty good at it due to the fact that i used to be into gymnastics. its very fancy looking... not exactly the most effective at kicking ass, but the opponent usually has no idea how to predict what you will do next and it also freaks the person out.

I've got to agree, thai boxing, boxing and jujitsu are top.

I think classical boxing and thai boxing should be cross studied a bit just for understanding training styles.

There are several former and current competitors from the Pride and UFC that sign onto the boards here... some of them are quite frequent posters. To date, though, I haven't seen any of the guys I know as active competitors post about themselves. They seem to be staying (wisely!) low profile here.

Read this thread. Some of the people you speak of probably made some of the replies. This was one of the rare intelligent threads on the subject of gear and fighting.
