It depends which country you are in.

Worldwide - In some countries it is legal to use anabolic steroids for "athletic enhancement"- with or without a prescription (Rx). In others, it is illegal. For example, physicians in the United States are violating the law if they write a prescription for anabolic steroids that are intended to be used for athletic enhancement purposes. They can however, write a prescription for these same substances for 'medicinal purposes' such as a decreased libido, or other testosterone age related abnormalities. It is also "illegal" for anyone in the United States to buy, possess, use, sell, trade, smuggle, export, and import anabolic steroids. However, in Mexico a physician currently is not restricted by these laws, therefore, anabolic steroids can be purchased with and sometimes even without a prescription directly from a farmacia. We then refer to the possibility of obtaining steroids as "legal", as an individual is not violating the law by having these items within their possession whether it's for athletic enrichment, or medicinal purposes. Although anabolic steroids may be legally obtained in one country, they may not be forwarded into a country where they are "illegal". This is particularly important to realize especially when ordering from Mailing Lists. The company as well as the items may be legit, however, it is a violation of the law to bring these steroids into a country where they are banned and against the law. Doing so will result in criminal conviction if caught.

In Sweden ALL steroids are illegal. But it es easy to get some if you know the right people but it could be expensive.

i know for sure that mere possession of reasonable amounts is legal in Austria, Germany, UK and Italy. I guess in most other mainland european countries too. Importing of any medicine is illegal in Austria in Germany, legal in the UK for personal use. I guess possession is legal in Greece and Spain also, but you cannot buy they are not OTC anymore, Greece has tightened their laws last year, Spain a couple of years ago. GHB is treated like any other rec. drug Germany and Austria hence illegal to possess, manufacture or distribute.
Egypt gear is legit and its not that cheap if you factor in the purchasing power of the average Egyptian. For Winstrol, i also would only know Thailand. There are sources in Europe distributing it, but they are expensive.

So as far as my friend claims if he did in fact buy from a pharmacy since I refused to buy from a source at the time. I paid around 1500 for everything and I had ALOT of shit. An I mean alot.

That info needs to be updated. It is at least 5 years old, and things may well have changed in some of those countries- they have in Korea.

In Korea, steroids have been sold via prescription only since the summer of 2000. Prior to that, you could get them OTC. Now, though you may (and I am talking 1 out of 50) find a pharmacy that sells them OTC, not likely- it is illegal, the fines are nasty, and fellow pharmacies will definitely snitch on a pharmacy they know are doing it. Docs may simply provide you with a script given a credible story from you as to why you need it. Some docs wont, or will only prescribe an amount like 5-10 amps. All hormone related medications fall under these relatively new laws regarding prescriptions. The laws are not aimed so much at anabolics, but also apply to antibiotics, etc etc.

However, vet gear is available OTC at vet supply shops, but the selection is limited and since those items are imported (durateston, sanabolicum, anabolin poret), prices are slightly high.

Why are you two busting my chops for saying "IMO, having my gear seized by the police is just as bad as being charged"? Just before my last cycle, I had almost $2000 in gear and ancilliaries in my possession... all of it was for MY use. I was very paranoid of having the lot either stolen or seized. It would be a very big deal for me to loose that kind of money AND gathering all that gear up again would be a major pain in the arse. I'm really sorry that in your country people get fucked in the ass by the legal system for possessing AAS. However, in my country.... if I was ever charged with an offence relating to steroids, I would certainly not go to jail. I'd pay a lawyer a few grand, take responsibility for the charge, plead guilty in court, and receive AT WORST a conditional discharge. Infact, since it'd be my first offence, I'd most likely end up with an absolute discharge. Meaning, if I kept my nose clean for 18 months following the conviction, I wouldn't even have a criminal record for the offence.

A former source of mine had his vehilce searched by the police... while he had EVERYTHING he deals in the trunk. He was charged with possession of dealer quantities of 12 different Schedule I, II, and III substances(in Canada, those are the most serious drugs: shit like coke, marijuana, speed, mushrooms, etc). He had one previous conviction on his record... for personal possession of 'E'. Anyways, this guy plead guilty and received a two year conditional sentence to be served in the community. He has a cerfew, has to give blood and urine samples on demand, candy-ass shit like that. He still goes to University and still has a PT job.

Jail might be a consequence for you... but it isn't for me.

Brazil: With or without RX... Easy to find pharmacies on the high populated branches in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. In other brazilian states are even easier.
